Back to school!

Look at the pictures below. How are the people feeling about
1 coming back to school? Why do you think so?

2 Watch the video and fill in the gaps with the following sentences:

1. The Dad Who Got Stuck on the School Bus


In 2018, a dad in Louisiana wanted to make sure his daughter was safe on her first
day of school. He got on the school bus with her to help her find a seat. But when
the bus started moving, he couldn’t get off! The bus driver had to finish dropping
off all the kids before bringing the dad back. The story made a lot of people laugh,
and the dad thought it was funny too.
2. The Boy Who Called 911 for Help with Homework
In 2019, a young boy in Indiana called 911 because he needed help with his math
homework. The lady who answered the call was surprised, but she helped him
with his math problems. Even though 911 is for emergencies, the story made
people smile and remember how hard schoolwork can be.
3. The Principal Who Slept on the School Roof
In 2017, a principal in South Dakota told his students that if they read 10,000 books
in one year, he would sleep on the school roof. The students reached the goal, so
on the first day of the new school year, the principal slept on the roof with his
sleeping bag. The students were very happy, and the story was on the news.
4. The Family Who Missed the First Day of School
In 2018, a family in Scotland went on holidays and didn’t realize they were missing
the first day of school. The parents thought school started a week later, so they
booked a holiday. When they came back, they found out their kids had missed
school! The parents said sorry to the school, and everyone laughed about the
mistake. The kids enjoyed an extra week of summer!
5. The Child Who Wore a Hot Dog Costume
In 2021, a kindergartener in Texas became famous when he showed up on the first
day of school wearing a hot dog costume. His mom let him wear anything he
wanted, and he chose the hot dog suit. The teachers and students loved it, and
pictures of him went viral online. It was a funny way to start the school year!
