Synopsis

Autism treatment centre

Introduction:

Autism, now called autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopment


disorder. ASD is a developmental disability caused by differences in your child’s
brain. People with ASD may behave, interact and learn in ways that are different
from other people. They may have trouble with social interactions and with
interpreting and using non verbal and verbal communication. The behavioural
signs of autism characteristics typically surface between the ages of 1.5 and 3
years. ASD affects about 1 in every 44. Male to female ratio is roughly 3:1. 1.5%
of children aged 2-9 years are diagnosed with ASD.

Need:

 To raise awareness and advancing research, developing new interventions


and improving existing ones.
 To provide specialized therapies and treatment.
 To develop social skills and to help individuals with ASD.
 Individuals with ASD often require special care and attention and such
centres can provide this care in many ways with proper guidance and
research, also improving the condition.

Aim:

To design a comprehensive and supportive environment that offers medical care,


therapy, education, skills development and other community resources, learning
spaces for self development of the individual with ASD and their families.
Objectives:

 To understand autism and its effects on learning and behavioural pattern.


 To design spaces that promote learning’s of the children , skill development
activities.
 To study impacts of principles of design on minds of these children.
 Conduct research programs and develop new interventions and strategies to
improve outcomes.
 Offer support services like counselling, occupational therapy and speech
therapy to families and individuals.

Scope:

 Design flexible spaces that accomodate different therapies and activities.


 Use visual comfort elements like proper color palate and gentle textures to
create calming atmosphere.
 Design outdoor spaces that promote exploration, recreation and sensory
integration.
 Design spaces that foster community engagement and social interaction.
 Organize recreational activities, camps and social events to promote
socialization and recreation.
