THE PRESENT PROGRESSIVE /CONTINUOUS MEANS:

 Again. (Repetition)
 Now. Right now. At this moment. (The instant) OR WITH AN ADVERB OF TIME AN ACTION IN THE FUTURE. (Tomorrow, next week, tonight, in a
few hours, etc.)
 Yet. (A hold on time, usually in a negative sentence)

THE PAST PROGRESSIVE / CONTINUOUS MEANS:


 An action that was happening at a moment in the past.
 An action that was interrupted at a moment in the past.
 An action happening in the past combined with a finished action (past simple)
…Careful though with the adverbs, some of them are not appropriate with both present and past continuous.

 The –ing form is also considered as a form of noun/substantive.


Swimming is a sport. Mining is a hard activity. You are not good at writing (or reading, listening and other intellectual activities).
 The –ing form is also considered an infinitive verb variant, usually when It has/carries a preposition or a conjunction (on, off, for, from, etc… but,
or, and, therefore, either, etc..) before.
Examples:
Eating home is less expensive than eating OUT.
On dreaming and listening nothing is written.
Before putting me in this spot, you should have asked.

STATIVE VERBS
(Description of a state, not involving a physical action, also called nonaction verbs).
They are for feelings, senses, emotions and mental states.
THEY ARE USUALLY NOT USED IN THE CONTINUOUS TENSES (present and past continuous) except with certain special meaning:
Dr. Diaz is seeing a patient now (meeting)
She is having problems with her boyfriend (experiencing)
So far I´m liking it (experiencing)
