Introduction

Brief introduction
• This course focuses on:
– approaches to teach reading, reading skills in the
Malaysian primary schools, English Language
curriculum, lesson planning for teaching reading and
techniques for teaching vocabulary.

– approaches and techniques for teaching writing,


lesson planning for teaching writing, developing
materials for teaching reading and writing, assessing
reading and writing and simulated teaching

1. Apply the approaches and techniques of teaching reading and
writing skills in the primary ESL classroom. (C3, P5, A3, PLO1)
2. Design materials (including remedial and enrichment) for teaching
reading and writing skills in the primary ESL classroom. (C6, P7,

3. Plan a lesson including activities and methods of assessment
based on the current Malaysian English Language syllabus for
