Above applies, as far as these tasks do not involve manipulations of the hardware.
Manipulating the hardware itself, as for example "unplugging" and "plugging" printed circuit
boards and modules, or working on terminals and/or connectors – for instance when applying
changes to the wiring – are – also if they are an issue in the context of configuration, parame-
terization and diagnostic – not subject of this document.
Target Group
The document you are reading right now is addressed to users, who are in charge of the fol-
lowing engineering tasks:
Conventions Used
In this document, reference is often made to important information, notifications and limita-
tions. For clarification, the following conventions are thereby adhered to.
• Manuals to be referred to are represented in italics, such as e.g. TM 1703 emic Installa-
tion, section "Flash Card".
• Operation code from programs and variable names are represented in this font.
• Symbolic names, program names and file name extensions are represented in this font.
Notes on Safety
This manual does not constitute a complete catalog of all safety measures required for operat-
ing the equipment (module, device) in question because special operating conditions might
require additional measures. However, it does contain notes that must be adhered to for your
own personal safety and to avoid damage to property. These notes are highlighted with a
warning triangle and different keywords indicating different degrees of danger.
Danger
means that death, severe injury, or substantial damage to property will occur if the appropriate safety
measures are not taken.
Warning
means that death, severe injury, or substantial damage to property can occur if the appropriate safety
measures are not taken.
Caution
means that minor injury or damage to property can occur if the appropriate safety measures are not taken.
Note
is important information about the project, handling the product, or the part of the documentation in questi-
on, to which special attention must be paid.
Qualified Personnel
Commissioning and operation of the equipment (module, device) described in this manual must be per-
formed by qualified personnel only. As used in the safety notes contained in this manual, qualified person-
nel are those persons who are authorized to commission, release, ground, and tag devices, systems, and
electrical circuits in accordance with safety standards.
Use as Prescribed
The equipment (device, module) must not be used for any other purposes than those described in the
Catalog and the Technical Description. If it is used together with third-party devices and components,
these must be recommended or approved by Siemens.
Correct and safe operation of the product requires adequate transportation, storage, installation, and
mounting as well as appropriate use and maintenance.
During operation of electrical equipment, it is unavoidable that certain parts of this equipment will carry
dangerous voltages. Severe injury or damage to property can occur if the appropriate measures are not
taken:
• Before making any connections at all, ground the equipment at the PE terminal.
• Hazardous voltages can be present on all switching components connected to the power supply.
• Even after the supply voltage has been disconnected, hazardous voltages can still be present in the
equipment (capacitor storage).
• Equipment with current transformer circuits must not be operated while open.
• The limit values indicated in the manual or the operating instructions must not be exceeded; that also
applies to testing and commissioning.
Consider obligatory the safety rules for the accomplishment of works at electrical plants:
1. Switch off electricity all-pole and on all sides!
2. Ensure that electricity cannot be switched on again!
3. Double check that no electrical current is flowing!
4. Discharge, ground, short circuit!
5. Cover or otherwise isolate components that are still electrically active!
Term Meaning
Periodical Information A periodical information has a deterministic transmission behavior and is
used for the exchange of a process signal or a derived information between
the peripheral element and the higher-level open-/closed-loop control func-
tion.
A periodical information is always transmitted in groups and consequently
with the transmission already have a chronologically consistent interrelation-
ship.
Spontaneous information A spontaneous information object that is transmitted upon change spontane-
object ously in a message, and is used for the exchange of a process signal or a
derived information (including status) between the peripheral element and
the particular automation unit, another automation unit or a control system.
A spontaneous information object is always transmitted individually and
normally has a time stamp, in order to be able to establish a chronologically
consistent interrelationship later.
System-internal informa- A system-internal information is used exclusively for the exchange of control
tion information between peripheral elements and system functions and is not
available to the user. It can be transported through the system like a periodi-
cal information or like a spontaneous information object.
A system-internal information is only mentioned in order to explain the be-
havior of the described functions.

1.2. Overview
1.3. Architecture
Installation takes place on a DIN rail (TS35) that is mounted horizontally or vertically on a ver-
tical standing rack.
The sequence of modules from left to right or top to bottom is prescribed as follows:
TS35 rail
The exact information to mounting can be found in the manual TM 1703 emic Installation,
chapter "Mounting".
Warning
The connecting and withdrawal of modules is only permitted in a de-energized state. De-energized means
that the power supply to the power supply module, as well as the signal voltages to the respective
I/O module are switched off.
With voltages > 60 V the general safety rules must be considered obligatory.
1.3.2. TM Bus
Communication between the I/O modules and peripheral control module takes place via the
TM bus in the master/slave process, wherein the I/O modules are the slaves. The I/O modules
are automatically addressed on the TM bus based on the sequence of physical fitting. The I/O
module connected directly to the peripheral control module has the least significant address.
The I/O modules are checked cyclically for functioning via the TM Bus. A failure is detected af-
ter max. 200 ms. The "RY" LED goes out on the corresponding I/O module.
The power supply and the TM bus are electrically connected during the process of latching to-
gether, wherein each module can be individually replaced.

2.2. Configuration
The supply of the master control element is carried out by a power supply module. The power
supply also provides the required operating voltage for the transmission equipment for multi-
point traffic and dial-up traffic.
The master control module CP-6010 forms together with the CPC30 firmware the master con-
trol element. The master control element contains all the central functions for processing and
communication.
The optional I/O modules support the master control element with the process data input and
output.
The following transmission facilities can be supplied directly from the power supply module us-
ing a special cable.
2.3. Communication
Via the communication interfaces the master control element can communicate with any supe-
rior or subordinate automation, supporting multi-point traffic and dial-up traffic (using an exter-
nal data transmission device), and LAN/WAN communication.
For process communication and engineering the following interfaces are available:
Note
With usage of the TOOLBOX II via the RS-232 interface the external supply for modems must be removed
from plug X4, as far as the voltage at X4 is nominal 24 V.
2.4. Engineering
The Engineering is done exclusively using a web browser or using the TOOLBOX II.
For parameter setting, diagnosis and testing the master control element has an integrated
webserver. Because of this no special tool and no additional licenses are required. Therefore,
all engineering can be carried out - also remotely - with a web browser (Internet Explorer ®) of
a standard PC.
The access to the webserver happens via the IP address of the respective target system.
With the tool webemic an unambiguous IP address can be assigned to a target system.
Thereto the following, factory-provided preset data are required:
Simple application programs can be created as an instruction list (following IEC 61131-3), us-
ing any text editor, and be saved as an ASCII file on the PC. Via the web browser the instruc-
tion list can be loaded into the master control element for execution.
The complete engineering data is stored non-volatilely on the flash card equipped in the mas-
ter control element. When commissioning or servicing, the configuration is simply transferred
to the new device when the flash card is inserted.
2.4.2. TOOLBOX II
Further the system is supported by the TOOLBOX II concerning parameter setting and
documentation.
Application programs can be created in this case as Function Chart (following IEC 61131-3).
Alternatively, already existing Instruction Lists can be imported into the TOOLBOX II.
For the engineering with the TOOLBOX II the following tools are required:
• OPM II
• CAEx plus
• Data Distribution Center
• Parameter Loader
• Firmware Loader
The engineering data is kept in the TOOLBOX II and can be loaded offline on a suitable flash
card. When commissioning, the flash card must be solely put into the master control element.
When commissioning or servicing, the engineering data can be loaded also online via the
TOOLBOX II into the master control element. The master control element saves the configura-
tion non-volatilely on the equipped flash card.
More detailed information on the available engineering tools can be found in the Manual
TM 1703 emic Operation and Maintenance, chapter "Overview".
