A. Reviewing Before we dive into today's

previous lessons lesson, let's do a quick recall
or presenting activity to warm up our brains.
the new lesson. Ready? Yes, ma’am.
ELICIT What is the formula for the area
of a circle?
Area=πr62
That is correct. Π (pi) is
approximately 3.14, and r is the
radius of the circle.
Okay next is, Find the area of a
circle with radius r. Let's say the
radius r=5 cm.

Area=πr^2

=π×5^2

=π×25≈3.14×25

That’s right. =78.5 square cm.

Next is, what is the area of a
circle with a diameter of d? Let's
say the diameter d=10. Finding the radius:

Radius r=d/2

=10/ 2= 5 cm

Calculation: Area=πr^2

=π×5^2

=π×25≈3.14×25=78.5 square cm.

Great job, everyone. Now, let’s

move to our next topic for today.

B. Establishing a Let's take a look at this colorful

purpose for the shape I've got here. What shape
lesson do you see in the figure
presented? It looks like a cylinder!
ENGAGE

Great! What measurements do

you think we need to find the
volume of this cylinder?
The height and the radius?

Correct! Now, how is the area of

a circle related to the volume of
a cylinder? The area of the base circle is used to find
the volume?

Exactly! If a cylinder is made up

of many circles stacked on top of
each other, what other The height!
measurement do we need?

Yes! The volume of a cylinder is

found by multiplying the area of
the base circle by the height.
Well done, everyone!
C. Discussing the Alright, class, let's discuss how
new concepts the area of a circle is related to
and practicing the volume of a cylinder.
new skills.
Imagine you have a stack of
EXPLORE coins. Each coin is a circle,
right? If we stack many coins on
top of each other, we get a
shape that looks like a cylinder.

First, remember that the area of

a circle is given by the formula
πr^2. So, that's like one of the circles in the
stack?
Exactly! Now, if we have lots of
these circles stacked up, the
height of this stack gives us the
volume of the cylinder. The
volume is how much space is
inside the cylinder.
So, we multiply the area of the circle by
the height?

Yes! The volume of the cylinder

is found by multiplying the area
of the base circle πr^2 by the
height h. The formula is
Volume=πr^2h.

Now, why is knowing the volume Like water tanks?

of cylinders important? Think
about real-life examples.

Exactly! Water tanks, soup cans,

and even oil barrels are all
cylinders. Knowing their volume
helps us understand how much
they can hold.
D. Developing Let's think about these
mastery questions. First, if you make the
height of a cylinder twice as tall
EXPLAIN but keep the same radius, what
happens to the volume?

It gets bigger?

Yes, it gets twice as big! If we

double the height, the volume
doubles. Great job!

Now, here's another question: If

you make the radius twice as
long but keep the same height,
what happens to the volume?
It gets bigger too?
Exactly! But this time, it gets
four times bigger! If we double
the radius, the volume increases

by four times.
E. APPLICATION Let's think a bit deeper today.
Why do you think the radius is
squared in the formula for the
volume of a cylinder?
We don’t have idea ma’am.
No worries! The formula is
πr^2h. The πr^2h part is the
area of the circle at the bottom
of the cylinder.
So that's why we square the radius?
Yes! The area of the circle is
πr^2. When we stack up these
circles to make a cylinder, we
multiply the area by the height.
That's why we use πr^2×h.
Yes, ma’am.
Do you understand now?
F. Making Now, who wants to volunteer to

and abstraction take to derive the formula for the

Let’s Put It Into Writing!
EVALUATION
Given the formula , explain how well you understand each component of
the formula and its role in calculating the volume of a cylinder. Additionally,
evaluate how confident you feel about applying this formula to solve real-world
problems. Provide specific examples or scenarios where you might use this formula.
