Let us now move on to the Viewing Genre. It is
another type of genre which is in the form of
visuals.

THE GENRE OF VIEWING

 Animation. These are the cartoons we


see on screen. Inanimate objects (such as
puppets) or drawings appear to move in
motion pictures or computer
graphics.Their themes vary as well as the
target age group. Some are for toddlers,
kids while some are for teenagers.

•Examples: The Lion King , Mulan, Ice Age ,


The Good Dinosaur etc. Yes, Ma’am.

Alright! Animation is a method by which still


figures are manipulated to appear as moving
images.animations are made with computer-
generated imagery (CGI).

 Trailer. It is known as a preview that


gives highlights of the film that will be
exhibited in the future at a cinema
usually to attract viewers to watch the
movie. It is An advertisement for a
feature-length motion picture, generally
consisting of short extracts of the film,
and shown either in conjunction with
another feature film or on entertainment
television.
(also known as a preview, coming attraction or
attraction video) is a commercial advertisement,
originally for a feature film that is going to be
exhibited in the future at a movie
theater/cinema. It is a product of creative and
technical work.

Alright! Let us proceed to our next genre.

 Education. These are programs which


have a coherent set or sequence of
educational activities designed and
organized to achieve predetermined
learning objectives or accomplish a
specific set of educational tasks over a
sustained period. The Main audience is
mostly children. Sometimes they come
in episodes focusing on a particular
theme. Some use demonstration
techniques such as shows which instruct
viewers how to make crafts, arts etc.

•Examples: Animal Atlas, Sineskwela,


Mathenik, Mind-S Cool TV.
It is an educational program that can help us
with our studies, and also it is convenient for the
students and teachers to understand their lesson.
The best example of this is DEPED TV.

 Variety Show. It is a theatrical


entertainment of successive separate
performances (as of songs, dances, skits,
and acrobatic feats). Its main purpose is
to entertain the viewers. It is called
variety because it presents the viewers
varied performances. • Examples: ASAP,
Eat Bulaga, Pilipinas Got Talent.

The variety program, a combination of comedy


and music that almost always included a singing
host and a guest star for the week, also
dominated the period.

The next genre is Sitcom, kindly read. • It is known as a situation
comedy. It is a television
series that involves a
continuing cast of
characters in a
succession of comedic
circumstances .

Examples: Home Sweetie


Home, Pepito Manaloto,
Vampire Ang Daddy Ko.

When we say sitcom, it is a shortened word for


situation comedy. The term sitcom derives from
the word situation comedy. This popular format
of entertainment is a weekly show that entails a
regular cast of characters in a sequence of
episodes which mainly take place in the same
location. A sitcom is a make-believe for 24
minutes a week.

Another example of this is Daddy’s Girl


of Maine Mendoza and Vic Sotto. Yes, Ma’am.

 Soap. It is known as Soap Opera. It is a


serial drama performed originally on a
daytime radio or television program and
chiefly characterized by tangled
interpersonal situations and
melodramatic or sentimental treatment.

•Examples: 100 Days to Heaven, Agua Bendita,


Love of My Life, First Yaya.

It is a series of television or radio shows about


the lives and problems of a particular group
of characters. The series continues over a long
period and is broadcast (several times) every
week.

non- fictional TV program
or motion picture that

whose purpose is to

materials are selected and
arranged from what already
exists (rather than being
made up); and whose
methods involve filming
real people as themselves in
actual locations, using
natural light and ambient
sound.

benefits.

the Department of Tourism.

is aimed at educating the customer about a
product or a series of products via television in
the form of a program. Infomercial typically
lasts longer than a regular advertisement and
thus is more detailed.

And our last genre is Movie / video Clip, kindly,

Movie / Video Clip . It is a


stripof motion picture film,
especially an excerpt from
a longer film or one
inserted as part of another
presentation, as of a
telecast or full-length
motion picture.
•It is just a portion of the
entire film usually cut to
pick specific scene or
highlight of the movie.

to be discreet and careful whether or not these
materials provide relevant and reliable

media platforms are suited to students like us.
So, we must be responsible viewers and digitally
