MA T102 Linear Algebra & Calculus
MA T102 Linear Algebra & Calculus
I. RATIONALE
The objective of this course is to familiarize the prospective engineers with techniques in calculus, multivariate differentiation
and integration. It aims to equip the students with standard concepts and tools at an intermediate to advanced level that will
serve them well towards tackling more advanced level of mathematics and applications that they would find useful in their
disciplines.
II. INDUSTRY/EMPLOYEREXPECTEDOUTCOME
Engineers applying mathematics should proficiently solve complex real world problems, enhancing decision making,
design and innovation with precision and efficiency.
III. COURSELEVELLEARNINGOUTCOMES(COS)
Students will be able to achieve & demonstrate the following Cos on completion of course:
CO1 Student will demonstrate competence with the basic ideas of linear algebra including
concepts of matrices, bases and dimension
CO2 To apply differential and integral calculus to notions of curvature and to improper integrals.
Apart from some other applications they will have a basic understanding of Beta and
Gamma functions.
CO3 To deal with functions of several variables those are essential in most branches of
engineering.
CO4 To acquaint the student with mathematical tools needed in evaluating multiple integrals
and their usage.
CO5 The tool of power series and Fourier series for learning advanced Engineering
Mathematics.
IV. TEACHING-LEARNING&ASSESSMENTSCHEME
FA represents average of three CIEs as mentioned below (20 marks each) conducted during the semester.
SA represents summative assessment based on Semester End Examination (SEE) as mentioned below.
SEE Question paper will be for 75 marks. Question paper will contain 10 questions of 2 marks each
and 5 questions of 11 marks each unit-wise with choice of question.
