Racial discrimination remains a prevalent force in
society that shapes thinking and opportunities
which are provided on the basis of certain race or

social norms and daily interactions help
people interpret racial phenomena.

as evil or bad people.
Language, attire, and cultural practices are
examples of symbols that greatly influence how
others view race. For example, Muslims are
often portrayed as terrorists or extremists due to
their dressing.

The media also serves as a significant symbol

that is responsible for supporting or contradict
racial stereotypes which can affect how the
society and individual opinions are perceived.

Racial identities are developed by encounters

with other people. Perspective on our own race
