I OBJECTIVES:
A. CONTENT STANDARD The learner demonstrates understanding of how world
literature and other texts types serves as ways of
expressing and resolving personal conflict, also how to
use strategies in linking textual information, repairing,
enhancing communication public speaking, emphasis
markers in persuasive texts, different form of modals,
reflexive and intensive pronoun.
B. PERFORMANCE STANDARD The learner composes a short persuasive text using
variety of persuasive techniques and devices.
C. LEARNING COMPETENCIES Compare and contrast the contents of the materials
viewed with outside sources of information in terms of
accessibility in terms of accessibility and effectiveness.

LESSON OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson the students are expected to:
a. define compare and contrast;
b. appreciate the value of knowing the similarities and
differences’ to come up with wise decision making; and
c. compare and contrast the viewed materials using the
different graphic organizers in the activities.

B.1 Engagement The teacher will ask questions to the learners about the

B.2 Exploration ACTIVITY: VENN DIAGRAM SHOWDOWN
(Pre-Assessment) Objective:
Students will compare and contrast the contents of two
materials viewed (e.g., videos, articles, or ads), helping
them appreciate how similarities and differences lead to
better decision-making.

Instructions:
Divide the class into small teams, provide them with two
shorts, contrasting materials to view, fill in a Venn
diagram comparing similarities and differences, share
their findings in a fun competition, and conclude with a
class discussion on how comparing information helps in
making better decisions.

B.3 Explanation LESSON INTRODUCTION


(Deepening/Discussion) The teacher will introduce the topic. She will also
discuss the results of Activity 1.

In this lesson we will be able to utilize some


terminologies in the aspect of comparing and
contrasting the content of one source of information to
another.
- Effectiveness refers to the degree of being able to
achieve the desired result based on the information’s
objective or purpose.

- Accessibility refers to the quality of being easy to find,


obtain, and use.
•Text accessibility- refers to the arrangement of words
for them to be easily accessed.
•Image accessibility-provides additional information
about the text or concept through a picture.
•Audio accessibility- provides additional information
through listening skills.
•Video Accessibility- provides additional information
through listening and viewing.
There are graphic organizers for comparing &
contrasting: Venn Diagram, Table, Top hat Organizer
and Y organizer.

B.4 Elaboration (Performance Task) WHAT TO DO?
Instructions:
1. Watch the Materials: Watch the two short videos
provided, which present different perspectives on the
same topic.
Video 1: "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle" (National
Geographic)
Video 2: "What Really Happens to Recycled Plastic?"
(BBC Earth Lab)

2. Use Graphic Organizers:


 Venn Diagram: Compare and contrast the
similarities and differences between the
videos.
 T-Chart: Break down the pros and cons or
key points of each video.
 Cause-and-Effect Chart: Identify causes
presented in the videos and their effects.
3. Complete the Graphic Organizers:
- Use clear examples from the videos to fill out each
organizer.
4. Submit Your Work: Hand in the completed graphic
organizers to demonstrate your understanding of the
differences and similarities.
Evaluation:
You will be graded on:
Accuracy: How well you identified similarities,
differences, causes, and effects.
Clarity: How clearly you represented the
information in each organizer.
Completion: All three organizers should be filled
out thoroughly.
B.5 Evaluation (Post-Assessment) QUIZ: Instruction: In a ½ sheet of paper, answer the
following. Define compare and contrast and give other
examples.

remembering information. It helps us highlight subtle
differences between objects or concepts and help make

Materials: Choose two commercials or advertisements


(e.g., for similar products like two different soft drinks or
two different gadgets) that are easy to access (e.g.,
YouTube).

Instructions:
Step 1: Watch both commercials carefully.
Step 2: Use a Comparison Table (columns for
Commercial 1 and Commercial 2) to answer these key
questions:
 What product is being advertised?
 What is the message of each commercial?
 What target audience is each commercial
aiming at?
 What persuasive techniques are used (e.g.,
humor, emotion, facts)?
 How is the imagery, sound, or language used
differently or similarly?
