Contend is an action word and this is calling

BIBLE STUDY DAY 1
THEME: CONTEND TO CONQUER: EMPOWERING YOUTH
TEXT: JUDE 1:3
TOPIC: CONTENDING TO CONQUER AS YOUTHS
Introduction:
The phrase "contend to conquer" carries a sense of struggle, determination, and ultimately,
victory. In the Bible, we find numerous instances where individuals had to contend with
challenges in order to achieve their goals and fulfill God's purposes. In a world where the values
of society often clash with the teachings of the Bible, it's crucial to empower ourselves as youth
to stand strong in our faith. Jude 1:3 provides a rallying cry for believers to "contend earnestly
for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints." This verse encapsulates the essence
of standing firm in the face of challenges to protect and uphold the true teachings of
Christianity.
QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:
1. What do you understand by the term contend to conquer? (Jude 1:3, Acts 20:38-30,
Matthew 24:24-25.)
2. What interest of the society often clash with the teachings of the bible? (1 Corinthians
6:18-20, Hebrews 13:4, Genesis 1:27, Phillipians 4:8, Proverbs 14:12)
3. Provide and critically explain with examples of young people in the bible who contended
to conquer by standing strong in their faith across different situations. (1st Samuel 17,
Danel 1-3, Genesis 37-50).
4. How can we as young believers contend for faith? (2 Timothy 2:15, James 4:8, Titus 2:6-
8, Romans 12:2, Psalm 56:3-4)
Side question:
There is a saying if you cannot beat them, join them. Explain for and against in your own
understanding in relation to the theme
Conclusion:
The call to "contend earnestly for the faith" in Jude 1:3 carries profound implications for
empowering young believers. By equipping them with the tools to defend their faith and
navigate challenges, we enable them to conquer doubts and grow into strong, confident
individuals rooted in their beliefs.
Memory verse:
“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the
evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:13)
BIBLE STUDY DAY 2
THEME: CONTEND TO CONQUER: EMPOWERING YOUTH
TEXT: JUDE 1:3
TOPIC: EMPOWERING YOUTHS TO CONTEND
Introduction:
The youth of any generation hold the potential to shape the course of history, both in the
secular world and within the Kingdom of God. Empowering youths to contend involves
equipping them with the spiritual, emotional, and intellectual tools necessary to face the
challenges of life while remaining rooted in their faith.
In today's rapidly changing world, young people face numerous challenges and temptations that
can shake their faith and convictions. Jude 1:3 presents an insightful perspective on how youths
can be empowered to stand firm and contend for their faith. This verse encourages believers to
"contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints."

QUESTIONS FOR DISCUSSION:

1. What do you understand by the term empowering youths to contend?
2. What are some challenges young believers face while contending for faith to conquer?
(Mark 4:19, Proverbs 4:23, Romans 12:12)
3. In what ways can youth empower themselves to contend for their faith? (2Timothy 3:16-
17, Jude 1:3, Proverbs 19:20, Proverbs 1:5, Proverbs 27:17, Matthew 5:16)
4. In what way can the church help to empower youths to contend for their faith? (Titus
2:6-7, Proverbs 9:9, Hebrews 10: 24-25)
Side question:
What is with youths and online church service? (Hebrews 10:25)
Conclusion:
Empowering young believers to contend for their faith involves equipping them with
knowledge, skills, and a strong foundation in God's Word. By embracing apologetics, engaging
with their surroundings, fostering meaningful relationships, and practicing spiritual disciplines,
young believers can confidently and effectively engage with the world while staying true to their
faith. As they grow in their understanding and relationship with God, they become empowered
to contend for truth, love, and transformation in their lives and communities.
Memory verse:
"But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone
who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and
respect." (1 peter 3:1)

1. LOVE divine, all loves excelling, 4. Jesu, of Thee shall be my song;
Joy of heaven, to earth come down; To Thee my heart and soul belong;
Fix in us Thy humble dwelling, All that I have or am is Thine,
All Thy faithful mercies crown: And Thou, blest Saviour, Thou art mine:
Jesu, Thou art all compassion, Amen.
Pure, unbounded love Thou art;
Visit us with Thy salvation,
Enter every trembling heart.

2. Come, almighty to deliver,

Let us all Thy grace receive;
Suddenly return, and never,
Never more Thy temples leave:
Thee we would be always blessing,
Serve Thee as Thy hosts above,
Pray, and praise Thee, without ceasing,
Glory in Thy perfect love.
