A Detailed Lesson Plan in Science VI

Prepared by: Edelene Singcolan Getes

I. Objective: at the end of the lesson the students are expected to:

a. identify the states of matter

b.foster curiosity and appreciation for states of matter through questioning, cultivating
a genuine interest in understanding their underlying principles.
c. demonstrate simple experiment.

II. Subject Matter

Topic: The States of Matter

Reference: https://youtu.be/jmm1J2yI9tk?feature=shared

Materials: visual aid, worksheet and examples of solid, liquid and gas

Valuing: cooperation and participation

III. Procedure

Teacher Activity Pupils Activity

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
Before we proceed to our lesson this
morning, can I request everyone to please
stand for our prayer.

Who wants to volunteer?

Me Teacher.
Praise your name and pray your will is
done in Heaven and on Earth. Please give
us food, water and a safe place to sleep.
Help us love each other, even when we
don’t agree. Please forgive us when we
make mistakes, and thank you for not
keeping score.
You may now take your seat.
2. Greetings

Good evening, Class?

I will be your Science Teacher for tonight

session. Good evening too teacher.
How are you this evening? We’re fine, Teacher.
Very good!

3. Checking of Attendance
Is there anybody absent today? No. Teacher

Very good!

4. Drill
Ok Class, before we start let’s have an activity
first it’s called:
REFILL ME!
Instruction: The class will be divided into three
groups ,every must have three representatives. The The students doing and participating to the
representatives will refill the big bottle, the group activity.
finished first and have a lot of water being refilled will
be the winner.

5. Motivation
Instruction: In the same group, G-1 will classify the
solid objects,G-2 classify the liquid objects, and G-3
will classify the gas. There are objects put together and The students doing and participating to the
every group must be able to put it in proper box. activity.

OK Class you may now take your seat.

QUESTIONS: Teacher we put rock ,pencil, chalk and
G1 what objects have you put in the box? eraser in the solid box.
Teacher we put water ,coke and juice in
How about G2 and G3? the liquid box.
Teacher we put balloons in the gas box.

Very Good students!

B. Developmental Activities
1.Presentation of the new lesson.
Class I have here three objects can you recognise it
class?(Showing Rock, water and balloon). Teacher the objects are rock, water and
balloon.

Very good!
So our topic this morning is all about
THE STATES OF MATTER

2. Setting of Standards
Before we discuss the topic this morning, what
should a good student do when the teacher is
discussing here in front?

Here’s also our rules.

W – Work Together
A – Always Be Respectful
T – Take Responsibility
C – Care for Classroom Materials
H – Hold a Positive Attitude
Can I expect this to all you class?

2.Discussion Yes, Teacher!

And now class, let us find out what is State of
Matter.
Matter- is anything that takes up space and can be
weighed. There are three state of matter: solid, liquid
and gas.

Class I have here rock, water and balloon which are

the examples of solid, liquid and gas. Take a moment
to feel and observe the rock, touch water, imagine the
air inside the balloon.
What have you observed in rock?

Very Good! Teacher it is heavy, has shape and

compact/solid.
Solid-a state of matter that has volume, mass, exact
shape, and can be touched. Example
rock,chalk,ice,and glass.
What have can you say about the water which is
liquid?
Very Good! Teacher it occupies the space of the
container and we can feel it.
Liquid-has volume but no definite shape ,freely flow
and can be feel and touch. Example
water,oil,softdrinks.

What have you imagine in the air inside the balloon?

Very Good!
Teacher it can’t be seen or it is invisible.
Gas-has no fixed volume and shape, invisible but can
be feel, it’s the most natural form of matter. Example
oxygen,and air inside the balloon.

And now class, on the same group:

Group 1 will be listing 5 examples of solid that is
important here in the classroom.
1.
2.
3. 1.Board
4. 2.Eraser
5. 3.Pen
4.Pencil
Group 2 will be listing 5 examples of liquid that we 5.Chair
intake everyday.
1.
2.
3. 1.Milk
4. 2.Coffee
5. 3.Juice
4.Water
Group 3 will be listing 5 examples of gas that’s 5.Coke
important to human in everyday life.

1.
2.
3. 1.air
4. 2.oxygen
5. 3.nitrogen
4.methane
Wow! Great job! 5.butane
C. Culminating Activities

1. Generalization
Again, what is our topic today?
Very Good!
What are the 3 states of matter The States of Matter
Very Good!
What is solid? Can you give me an example? Solid, liquid and gas

Very Good! It has volume and mass, and has shape that
How about liquid? Can you give me an example? can be touch. One of the example is rock.

Very good! Can move freely and no definite shape.

Lastly, what is gas? Can you give an example? Example of it is water and milk.

Very good! It has no fixed shape and volume we can’t

see it or touch it but we can feel it.
5.Application
And now, in the same group we will have another
activity(experimental activity).
Note: The teacher will be doing the experiment to
ensure the safety of the students. The teacher will
demonstrate to the students how do ice melts and
boiling water.
Materials Needed:
Ice
Heat Source or electric kettle
After demonstrating to the students, every group
will make a reflection based on what they have
observed. The students observing in the experiment
and making a reflection about it.
