GLOSSARY:
1. Diversity-Variety of people with various religions, languages, food, clothes,
races, tribes etc.
2. Inclusion: Inclusion involves ensuring everyone has equal access to
opportunities and resources and feels welcomed and valued.
3. Equality-The situation in which everyone has the same rights and advantages.
4. Inequality- Difference in social status, wealth, or opportunity
between people or groups.
5. Incredible-Something unbelievable or impossible that it is hard to
believe.

Q2. What do you think living in India with its rich heritage of diversity adds to your
life?
Ans.Living in India adds a lot in our life-
 We have large variety of food.
 We celebrate different festivals and respect all cultures.
 Variety of clothes according to different regions.
 We can learn different languages.
 We can learn different forms of music and dance.
Q3.What does Jawahar Lal Nehru say in his book, ‘Discovery of India’ about
unity in diversity?
Ans.i. Nehru Ji was trying to say about Indian unity that India is a land of various
castes,creed and religions still people live in harmony and brotherhood.
ii. They celebrate different festivals together and share their joys and sorrows together.
iii. Differences in terms of cultures, religions and languages add magic and spice to
our lives.
iv. In fact, unity in diversity is a base for Indian nationalism.

Q1. Why India is called a secular state?


Answer: People of different religions and faiths have freedom to practice and follow
their religion.

Q2. Which things drew traders to Ladakh and Kerala?


Answer: Both regions were influenced by Chinese and Arab traders. It was the
geography of Kerala which allowed for the cultivation of spices and the special
geographical location of Ladakh and its wool that drew traders to these regions.

Answer: Unity in Diversity means
