Starter (5 mins)
- Review the concept of static electricity and ask students to share experiences with static electricity

Methodology: (40 min)

1. Direct Instruction (15 minutes):


- Explain the production of positive and negative charges through friction, conduction, and induction
- Discuss the process of electrostatic induction and its applications
- Describe the construction and function of an electroscope
2. Demonstration and Experimentation (10 minutes):
- Demonstrate the production of charges using a Van de Graaff generator or a balloon and wool
- Show the process of electrostatic induction using a metal rod and electroscope
- Have students work in pairs to build a simple electroscope using a plastic bottle, straw, and tissue paper
3. Guided Practice (10 minutes):
- Have students use their electroscope to detect charges on various objects
- Ask students to record their observations and draw conclusions about the charges
