CHESS

Basic Rules of Chess

1. Objective: The goal of chess is to checkmate the opponent's


king. This means placing the king in a position where it cannot move
without being captured.

2. Pieces and Their Moves: Each player starts with 16 pieces,


including a king, queen, rooks, bishops, knights, and pawns. Each
piece has its own unique movement rules.

3. Turns: Players alternate turns moving one piece at a time.

4. Capture: To capture a piece, move one of your pieces to the


square occupied by the opponent's piece. The captured piece is
removed from the board.

Competition Rules

Time Control

1. Classical: Players have a fixed amount of time for the entire


game. For this event it shall be 10 minutes per player

2. Each player should download the chess clock app.

3. Draw Rules: A game can end in a draw under various


circumstances, including:

2.1. Mutual Agreement: Both players agree to a draw.

2.2. Stalemate: The king is not in check, but there are no legal
moves for the player to make.

2.3. Insufficient Material: Neither player has enough pieces to


checkmate the opponent.

2.4. Repetition: The same position has occurred three times in the
game.
2.5. Forfeits: If a player does not make a move within their allotted
time or violates the rules, they may forfeit the game.

Chess Board and Chess Piece

The participants should bring their own chess board and chess
piece.

Scoring

Points are awarded for wins, draws, and losses. The player with the
most points at the end of the event is declared the winner.

Etiquette

Players should follow proper etiquette, such as:

⚫ Arrive on time.

⚫ Be respectful of opponents and officials.

⚫ Avoid making excessive noise.
