There are many features available in operating systems that help to make the computer faster and

more powerful. Explain the features related to the operating system that contributes to the speed
and computer's performance.(15 marks) LO 03

1. Microsoft windows 10

Features of windows 10 operating system that contributes to the speed and

computer's performance

1. Start Menu-

Microsoft has brought back the Start Menu. The left

column of the two panels that appear when you select
the Start button at the bottom left of the screen now
displays the pinned, most recent, and most used apps.

The top of the screen also has a power button with options for Hibernate, Standby, and
Shutdown, and the right column has a variety of live tiles that you may resize, rearrange, and
personalize. Additionally, you don't need a Modern UI Start Screen because you can always have
the Start Menu extend to fill the entire screen.
2. Integration of Cortana-

Microsoft's voice-activated digital assistant

Cortana will be available on desktop
computers with Windows 10, making it
simpler for you to communicate with your
device without having to move a finger. By
ordering your PC to do something, you
will be able to search your hard drive for
specific files, retrieve images from a
certain time period, or start PowerPoint
presentations. To make multitasking even
easier, you may ask Cortana to send an email as you work on a spreadsheet.

3. Microsoft Edge web browser-

Microsoft Edge, which includes a

new rendering engine called
EdgeHTML, has taken the place of
Internet Explorer. Edge and Cortana
work together to give users voice
control, tailored information, and
search capabilities.
Users can annotate websites using
Edge, and these annotations can be
shared with other users and kept on
One Drive. A "Reading List" feature
synchronizes material across devices, and a "Reading Mode" removes formatting to make
reading on devices more pleasant. Many of the changes were aimed to bring Edge closer to
competing browsers like Chrome and Firefox.

4. Virtual Desktops-

It can be simple to run out of screen space if you don't have a multi-monitor setup. Windows 10
offers several desktops so you can work in them and rapidly switch between them as a result.
Task View, or virtual desktops in Windows 10, is a feature that can be accessed from the
Taskbar. All you need to do is click the Plus symbol to add a new desktop. You can establish
numerous desktops, and navigating between them merely requires pressing the Task View button
once again and gliding your mouse over the thumbnail of the desired desktop. To use the
workspace once it has been presented above, click on it (or press the Task View button once
again).

5. Improved multitasking-

You may run an additional set of windows as though they were on another screen without the
actual monitor thanks to the new Multiple Desktops feature. You may manage your numerous
open windows and apps with the aid of this function, which is comparable to Apple's Spaces
(opens in new tab) feature on OS X. You can create a separate virtual desktop for those programs
to live in so that they don't all open on the same desktop at once. Create a desktop just for your
home use, where you may leave programs like Netflix and Amazon open, and another desktop
for your professional use, where you can leave Word, Excel, and Internet Explorer open. (Low,
2022)

with Next Action Suggestions to make it simpler to create new shortcuts. Shell script

Since shortcuts are fully integrated into macOS Monterey, they can be used on both a Mac and
an iPhone. They may be launched from the Dock, menu bar, Finder, Spotlight, or by using Siri.

use of a single Mac's controls on a number of iPads or Macs. So, for instance, if you own a
MacBook Pro and an iPad, you may use the keyboard, track pad, and mouse of your Mac to
operate the iPad.

Bluetooth settings will be included in
Mint 21 even though it was not created by

The more recent GNOME Bluetooth,

Blueberry thanks to the GNOME 42
update. As a result, it requires substantial
adjustments to function. (Prakash, 2022)
