Unit test 5
Audio script
There have always been people who want to
explore so as to discover and make the unknown
known. When space exploration began, it was truly
a step into the great unknown and those animals
sent into space, and the astronauts that followed,
were brave adventurers indeed. Today, we have
much more knowledge about space and the
technology to help us constantly increase our
understanding. However, the technology is also
causing us problems because damaged and used
parts of rockets and satellites, and waste from other
types of technology and from astronauts, have
resulted in a growing amount of space debris
cluttering up space. Wherever people go, pollution
follows and now, not only have we polluted our
beautiful planet Earth but we are also polluting
space. The debris in space threatens satellites and
this has meant that it is now being monitored more
carefully. There is also the threat that parts of the
debris will fall back down to Earth and this could
have serious consequences. Furthermore, there is
the point that we humans should not think that we
can just leave our waste wherever we want to. We
need to be responsible about how we behave. We
need to do something to mend our ways. It is good
to explore and seek understanding but we should do
this with minimal impact. The time to do something
is now!
