SEMESTER OCT 2024 – FEB 2025
DIGITAL WORKFORCE (UBM599)
This course assessment requires students to explore the emerging trends of digital working
environment via crowdsourcing. Students are required to experience themselves as a digital
freelancer who works on digital tasks. Students need to apply their knowledge and skills to
complete crowdsourcing tasks from crowdsourcing platforms and generate income. Students will
be assessed individually for their ability to obtain jobs, completing the jobs, generating income
and establish their portfolio in the crowdsourcing platforms (e.g., Freelancer, Upwork, Guru.com,
etc). Students are required to report the profiling information, total number of jobs awarded, the
total number of jobs completed, the income earned, and the Star Rating obtained from completed
projects or contests. All jobs and communication with clients must be done through online
communication channels only. Students will be assessed individually.

1. Individual Project (Bidding) (CLO2)

Students are required to report on the following:


i. Completed online profiling Registration in 5 different crowdsourcing platform.
ii. Join bid/work application or contest with a total of 50 bids/contents in any 5 60%
crowdsourcing platform and report the bid/work application or contest with
summary of bids/contest.
iii. Registration for online payment such as PayPal
iv. Reported the project awarded, income earned, and star rating (if applicable)
i. Projects awarded - students are required to report the total number of jobs
awarded and the total number of jobs completed.
ii. Income earned - students are required to report on the income earned from
completed projects or contest.
v. Star rating - students are required to report on the Star Rating obtained from
completed projects or contest

2. Individual Assignment (Self Reflection) (CLO1)

Students are required to choose any topic in the syllabus (Chapter 1 – Chapter 8). 10%
Identify any topic related with Digital Workforce, e.g “Local Crowdsourcing”
Review and analyse the information and answer all question.

i. What have you learned from your experience with the topic?
ii. What are the takeaway?
iii. What are the skills acquired from this subject?
iv. Will you be using this skill in future?
v. What are the benefits that you acquired from this subject?

3. Infographic Video Presentation Individual Assignment (CLO1)

Method of deliverables: Infographic report & Voice Recorded Note Message OR
any suitable methods. Students will present the topic that related with the Digital
Workforce from Chapter 1 – Chapter 8, present in less than 5 minutes duration of
the video presentation. Students can use any video recording software application.

4. Conduct activities (seminar/workshop/talk) related to current issues in


digital workforce area (CLO3) (group)

In this group assignment, you will collaborate to prepare a comprehensive event
proposal for a real event of your choice. The proposal should demonstrate your
ability to plan and organize all aspects of an event. In a group, the students need
to demonstrate their teamwork and understanding of an event management
process and practices by organizing an event. Student are required to conduct
event e.g. seminar / workshop / talk as to demonstrate and discuss of the current
issues in the digital workforce in an interconnected environment using related skills
and knowledge.

Instruction
1. Group Formation: Form groups of [Specify the number of students per
group]. It is suggesting that one event per group (class)
2. Speaker / Guest / suggested people from Industry (professionals or experts
in the Digital Workforce e.g MDEC, IBM, Academician from Other University.
3. Event Execution: Execute the selected event following the proposal's
guidelines within a given budget and timeline. The event should be small-
scale but fully operational, with a focus on achieving the proposed goals and
objectives.
4. A Report must be submitted a week after the event for assessment marks

ASSESSMENT 1: PROFILING REPORT (60%)

IMPORTANT GUIDELINES:
1. FORMAT (Project Documentation): Documentation should be word-processed in the
form of infographic report
2. COVER PAGE: Include Name, Matrix No., Class Group, and submission date.
3. BACKUP: Students are reminded to make backup copies of all their programs and
documents. Excuses, such as “hard-disk crashes,” WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
4. INTEGRITY and PLAGIARISM: Any duplicated or plagiarized work, if detected, will be
automatically awarded 0 marks. Lecturers reserve the right not to accept any project
lacking in substance or copied from some other sources.
5. PDF: Convert to PDF format before you submit in uFuture.

EVALUATION CRITERIA:

1. Completed Online Profiling


• Registration in 5 crowdsourcing platforms
• Registration in online payment gateway – Paypal etc
• Profile completed for each crowdsourcing platform

2. Bidding/ Work Application & Contest


• Develop a proposal/cover letter based on the writing and communication skills
requirement, such as English proficiency.
• No. of bids in a semester is 50 bids/contest.

3. Projects Awarded
• No. of projects/contests won within the semester
• Digital works completed and delivered to employers within employers’ requirements
and timeline.

4. Income Earned (Projects/Contest)


• Amount of income earned with the evidence of payment

5. Star Rating (Projects/Contest)


• Maximum Star Rating received from Client.

Each student is required to prepare an infographic video presentation based on their
Assessment 2: Individual Assignment (Self-Reflection), using the same content in
Assessment 2 (Individual Assignment) and producing a 5-minute presentation on the overall
experiences. The point of this presentation is to productively extend your capabilities to perform
and present in a digital medium. The requirements are as below:

YouTube link, or Google Drive format (Make sure the link can be opened)
