Q-1- What do you understand by the word ‘marginalization’?


Ans- Marginalisation is exclusion of any community or group of people from main society.
1-Marginalisation means group of people or communities which are put at the margins of
economic and cultural development.
2-These communities are devoid of any changes or advancement which other people enjoy
in modem times.

Q-2- List two reasons why Adivasis are becoming increasingly marginalised?
Ans- 1-The development of forests robbed the Adivasis of their natural territory and
livelihood and turned them into marginal and powerless communities.
2-The Adivasis are portrayed negatively as exotic, primitive and backward people and are
represented through colourful costumes and headgears. This has led to the marginalization
of this community in modern India.
Q-3- Write one reason why you think the Constitution’s safeguards to protect minority
communities are very important?
Ans-Constitutional safeguards are important because
1-these communities are backward and are lacking at educational, social, and economic
levels.
2-To give them equal status in society these safeguards are required.
3- For the progress of a nation, it is necessary that all parts of society should progress.
4-To maintain cultural diversity protection of minorities are important?
Q-4-What do you understand by the term minority?
Ans- 1-The term minority is most commonly used to refer to communities that are small in
number, relation to the rest of the population.
2-The Indian Constitution provides safeguards to religious and linguistic minorities as part of
its Fundamental Rights.
3-It ensures that minorities are not discriminated against and that they do not face any
disadvantage.
Q-5-‘Muslims are a marginalized community’. Explain?
Ans-Because- 1-Muslims have lowest literacy rate. Schooling of Muslim children {7 to 16
years) is much lower than other religious groups.
2-They do not have proper access to basic amenities like electricity, piped drinking water
and pucca house.
3-They have low share in public employment {government job}.
4- Dropout rate (Number of students left schools without completion of education. in Muslim
children is the highest among all.
Q-6-Would you agree with the statement that economic and social marginalisation are
interlinked? Why?
Ans-Yes, economic and social marginalization is interlinked.
1-Dalits and tribals were considered a lower class of society.
2-They are living in separate areas of villages. Tribals are living in remote areas.
3-They were not getting a proper education, so unable to get good jobs.
4-When they do not get opportunities they remain economically weak and do not get an
education and this circle continues and they are socially backward.
Q-7- Which committee examined the social, economic and educational status of
Muslims?
Ans- Sachar Committee in 2005 It was headed by Justice Rajendra Sachar.
Q-8-What is Ghettoisation?
Ans- A Getto is an area that is populated by members of a particular community.
The process which leads separation concentration of one community is called Gettoisation.

Ans-1-People may speak different language.

3-They may belong to a different religious group.
4-They may be poor.
5-They may have different appearance.
