İngilizce 1. Yazılı çalışma / worksheet.

Reading 16p.
A) Ryan and his parents are talking about their music choices for a journey. Read and answer the questions.
Ryan : It’s going to be a great trip. I really can’t wait!
Dad : Me neither. Have you packed your suitcase, Ryan? You know, we are hitting the road before the sunrise.
Ryan : Already, Dad. A long drive, isn’t it?
Dad : Yeah, about seven hours.
Ryan : Why don’t we decide on the music list then? For the drive, I mean.
Mom : That’s a good idea. If you ask me, jazz will be nice. I love it, you know. The tunes are relaxing.
Ryan : Jazz? Come on! No way, Mom. It’s dull. I like rock more than jazz. The drums, electric instruments, all make you feel
energetic. We need energy for the journey.
Dad : Mmm, I like jazz, but I’m not a big fan of rock. It’s raucous.
Mom : That’s so true. How about blues or country?
Dad : I’d rather listen to country than blues. Both have song lyrics with similar themes, but they differ in rhythm, harmony,
and instrumentation.
Ryan : I’m afraid we can’t reach an agreement this way, can we?
Mom : I tend to agree with you at this point, Ryan. We all have different music choices. One’s meat is another’s poison.
Dad : That’s right. Then, we should listen to the radio. Whatever comes should be OK. We’ll see the lucky one. Any objections?
Ryan : Deal, Dad.
Mom : Now that we have figured things out, it’s dessert time!

d)Mmm, let me take a look e)Not yet.
Gary : Have you read the posts on your blog?
Scarlett : (1)...........(e)...............
Gary : They are quite interesting. Look at this. Masu, I mean. He says a song is not its beat and tune, lyrics matter.
Scarlett : Well, that is so true. I prefer songs with meaningful lyrics. Some songwriters may come up with words that do not
make sense.
Gary : (2)..................(a)....................
Scarlett : You are right. What else do we have?
Gary : (3)...........(d)...............Paws says music of the 90s does not focus on emotions.
Scarlett : I’m afraid I disagree. Why on earth do they think so? I still remember a lot of pop songs about love, joy, sorrow, and
other emotions.
Gary : (4)..(b)..........by the way. What do you think about music videos? Li says they make music more meaningful.
Scarlett : (5)..........(c)............If the lyrics and the video match, there is no problem. I sometimes see weird videos. The song may
be about loneliness, but in the video, the person may be having a good time with beloved ones. Absurdity! Where is the
sense in that?
Gary : Ha ha ha!

WRITING
Read the email below and fill in the application form. 18p.
Hello, My name is Ryan Bready, and I’m a new 11th grader at Belfast High School. I saw the school club posters on the
noticeboard and decided to apply for the drama club. I’m quite active and friendly. Acting is my biggest field of interest, and I’ve
attended the drama club at my previous school for the last five years. I’m interested in theatre, especially musicals. I like dancing a
lot, and I can do it pretty well. I’m also able to sing. After school, I take singing and modern dance lessons once a week. I’d really
love to be a member of the school’s drama club.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Regards, Ryan
