Part 1: Reading Section – My week (Weight: 5%)


Conducted in-class: Week 5 Lesson 2
Task description You will read several texts about the authors’ weekly routine
in Japanese, then answer questions in English. While the focus
is on Unit 5 My Week, it will cover learning from iiTomo 1
Units 1-4 as well.

To prepare, you can do the following:


- Use the revision EP tasks to review vocabulary.
- Attempt all the reading tasks in your iiTomo 1 workbook
and mini booklet.
- Complete all worksheets handed out in class and check your
work with the sample answers provided.

Part 2: Spoken Presentation – My weekly routine (Weight: 15%)


Submission due date: Week 6 Lesson 1
Task description Scenario:
You recently received a video letter from your Japanese host
sibling detailing their weekly routine as a student. You have
decided to prepare a video letter in reply, describing the
activities you do (and don’t do) in a week to share with your
host sibling.

This work must have a recorded voiceover with visual


presentation, either in video form or recorded PowerPoint
presentation. The video/presentation must be uploaded to
Compass by the due date and time.
Information Your presentation should include the following information
Required about your weekly routine:
- Title (My week)
- Mention at least five different activities you do on
different days of the week.
- Mention who you do the activities with
- Use adjectives to describe activities or things.
- Use frequency words to describe how often you do
certain activities.
- Describe whether you like or dislike certain activities.
- Any other additional information.
- Vocabulary
- Time words (days of the week, today, etc.)
- Verbs (in both positive and negative present tenses)
- Objects and places
- Adjectives
- Likes/dislikes
- Frequency words (いつも、ときどき、あまり~ません)
- Conjunctions(そして、それから、でも)
Presentation/Style You will have two options to present the information:
a) A video recording with voiceover
b) A recorded PowerPoint presentation with voiceover

Important - You have to present your information in spoken Japanese


information only. All the information must be in full sentences.
- Use the sentence structures and vocabulary that you have
learnt in class. You can include other phrases/expressions
you know if you wish and if it is relevant to the content.
- DO NOT use translation services or AI programmes.
- You should present your information with
complementing visual aids, such as video clips or
photos/pictures of you doing the activity.
- You may also use other creative options such as
animations, vlogs, etc.

Submission - Your video/presentation should be approximately 2-3


minutes long.
- As you are marked on your speaking skills, you must
ensure you record your voice.
- Subtitles are optional. They will not be marked.
- Check your work before you submit. Ensure the audio is
clear and the video plays smoothly.
- Submit your final video/presentation to the Learning
Task titled “Assessment Task 5: My Week (Speaking:
Video)” on Compass.
