ABSTRACT

The “Auction platform” This project aims to develop a dynamic, full-stack auction platform using the
MERN (MongoDB, Express, React, Node.js) stack, enabling users to bid on various items in real-time. The
application will offer features such as user authentication, item listings with descriptions and images, real-
time bidding with live updates, and notifications for bid status. Sellers can post new auctions with
customizable parameters like starting price and duration, while buyers can participate in multiple auctions
simultaneously. The platform leverages MongoDB for efficient data storage and retrieval, Express.js for
handling backend API requests, React for a responsive user interface, and Node.js for server-side
processing. Real-time bidding is facilitated through WebSockets, ensuring that users are immediately
notified of new bids or auction outcomes. Security is maintained through JWT (JSON Web Tokens) for user
authentication and role management (admin, seller, buyer). The application also integrates payment
gateways for finalizing transactions after a successful bid.

This project highlights the scalability, flexibility, and responsiveness of the MERN stack in building
modern e-commerce solutions.
