Medical Examination for “Work at Physical Heights”

1. Medical Assessment: set of question (self-report questionnaire) related to the


employee medical history and his healthy behavior in normal life (if the employee make
any regular physical activity, if is a smoker, if he drinks alcohol, if he consumes drugs,
if he has a hereditary disease, Etc.).

2. Basic medical examination: blood pressure, weight, height, pulse.

3. Physical Examination: checking the body corporal composition, BMI, abdominal


measure.

4. Medical Check: medical interview reviewing the medical assessment did in the point
number 1.

5. Blood test: Blood sugar, creatinine in blood, hemoglobin, total cholesterol, LDL, HDL
and Triglyceride. Requires eight hour on an empty stomach.

6. Optometric: eyesight examination.

7. ECG for employees older than 40 y.o.

8. Additionally, employees that work at Geographical heights should make other


examinations, like Lake Louis Score (LLS) for diagnosis of Acute Mountain Sickness
(AMS) and other routing test in order to confirm that:

a. Is able and authorized to work at heights without restriction at altitude > 3000
meters above sea level.
b. He doesn’t exhibit signs or symptoms of acrophobia (fear of heights)
c. He doesn’t experience dizziness attacks (Vertigo)
d. He doesn’t have any chronic disease that can cause “mal subito”, like
uncontrolled diabetes, epilepsy, Etc.

Regarding the test results, the employee can be result “Able” or “No Able” to perform the
work. In the last option, there is two options:

· Temporary Contraindication: Specific healthy situation, requiring an additional


treatment or stability report for allow to work.

· Permanent contraindication: Specific healthy situation that inhibit the employee to


work, causing a high healthy risk.
