METHOD: DEDUCTIVE /EXPLICIT TEACHING

I. Objectives:

K: identify the beneficial and harmful effects of the sun’s heat and light on living things.
S: explain how the sun affects living things.
A: examine safety precautions on the effects of sun’s heat and light.

II. Subject Matter

Effects of Sun’s Heat and light

III. Strategies
1. Appraisal
a. Checking of Assignment
 How are shadows formed?
(as light travels in a straight line, then it is blocked with an object, there is a formation of shadows. The object
does not let the light pass through it, so shadow is formed when light travelling to a source is blocked.)

b. Review

c. Drill
Beneficial Effect
recreation Benefit
d. Unlocking of difficult words:

Beneficial -helpful Effect----result

Benefit -help Recreation---activity that provides refreshment, play.
2. Awareness:
 Play the song Oh Mr. Sun
 Ask: What is the song all about? Mr.Sun
 Who are they looking for and why are they looking for Mr. Sun?

It is beneficial because everybody needs some sun to produce vitamin D(which helps calcium
absorption for stronger and healthier bones.

Trivia: The sun is the center of the solar system, and its gravity holds the solar system together. Everything in
our solar system revolves around it—the planets, asteroids, comets, and tiny bits of space debris.

It has beneficial or useful effects to us. However, it has also harmful effects. Let us discuss
the BENEFICIAL EFFECTS OF SUN’S HEAT AND LIGHT.
After a tiring day of fishing, we can dry up our catch t make a
dried fish.

We have also the Harmful effects. What are harmful effects of sun’s heat
and light?
1.
Sun burn occurs.
When skin cells
are damaged due
to too much heat of
the sun. It starts
with the redness
of our skin and leads
to peeling.

2.
3.Heat Stroke and dehydration is also cause by too much exposure to heat and light.

4.

5.
Drought may affect the plants growth and may lead to water scarcity. But don’t u know there
are ways to protect oneself from the excessive heat from the sun.
3. Abstraction:
1.What are the beneficial and harmful effects of the sun?
2.What are the harmful effects of the sun?

3.What are the safety precautions?

4. Activity :(groupings)
Let the pupils do the following on their Activity Notebook and be ready to
report in front.
4. Analysis
1.In what way is the sun beneficial to plants, animals and humans?
(Plants make their own food with the presence of the sunlight in the process called
photosynthesis).
Humans are most benefited: We can dry our clothes, crop and enjoy activities under the sun.
ANIMALS are benefited through the plants or grasses they eat. Their bones and muscles get
stronger because of the vitamin D they get from sunlight.
