2
Tips for Task – 1
 Analyze the questions carefully to make sure your answer addresses all the points covered by
the question.
 Identify the main features and describe them logically with relevant comparisons.
 Use a range of words to describe the patterns and be careful to use your own words because
the examiner will not include the words copied from the question in the word count.
 Don’t use bullet points.
 Organize your description of the diagrams in paragraphs and provide supporting or logical
arguments.
 You do not have to write too long sentences to do well in your writing test. Just write correct
sentences with proper collocations. If sentences are too long, they will become less coherent
and also make it harder for you to control the grammar.
 In your introduction don’t copy the text from the question.
 Don’t repeat the ideas or words.
 Keep your response factual & give reasons for the mentioned data.
 Don’t write the memorized answers.
 Be careful about Subject – Verb – Agreement.
 Be careful about singular and plural form of the words.
 Write the correct spelling of the word.
 Carefully use the punctuations and linkers as well.
 Allocate your time – 3+15+2 – think what you are going to write & take points for 3
minutes. Write for 15 minutes and revise for 2 minutes.
 Put one idea in each paragraph.
 Write in between 165-195 words.
