Field Project
Field Project is an important part of the new academic structure. Field Project-based learning is a
combination of individual or group research activities by the student through which the student not only
learns to do research through field study but also learns to work closely together in a group. Field-
study/case-study experiences outside the institute are invaluable for students. Through Field Project,
apart from group research activities, students' ability to self-management, democratic opinion formation
and collective decision-making increases.
Faculty supervisor has a very important role in Field Project. Through the guidance, student develop
research attitude, insight into work the subject and skills in understanding and solving problems in
students. The characteristic of Field Project is that everyone involved learns from each other. It is the
responsibility of the supervisor to establish academic dialogue with the students, develop the tendency
to think and ask questions on the major issues related to the subject and give suggestions to adopt
appropriate research methods to get their answers and to evaluate the work done by the students.
Selection of topic is very important in Field Project. In the selection of topic/title, the topic allocation
should be done keeping in mind the usefulness of the project, considering the interest of the students in
a particular subject. The Field Project should neither be too extensive nor too limited, that is, the students
can complete it within the stipulated time period. The topic of Field Project should also have personal
and social importance, and it should be like a research topic. Supervisors should ensure that the learning
outcomes for selecting the research topic are determined in such a way that they are achievable and on
the basis of which the knowledge and skills gained can be clearly measured and observed.
The Field Project should be completed on the basis of available resources of the college like library,
internet, audio visual material and field work/case-study outside the institute/facilities available in the
institute or MoU made with other institutes, etc.
