Pre-Primary Orientation Key points

֎ Slide1
Dear parents
1. A very good evening to you all. Welcome to the Cambridge orientation program.

֎ Slide2
2. The Cambridge International curriculum for schools was established in 1858, which means it is an age-
old curriculum. With over 8 milion students in 170 countries and in more than 10000 schools,
Cambridge is perhaps the largest board in the world when it comes to the number of countries they
cater to. Kennedy High the global school is a part of cambridge univercity.
3. The curriculum was introduced by Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), which is a
globally recognised provider of international qualifications. This curriculum shapes a child’s education
from age five to 19 and allows them to focus on subjects based on their strengths and interests.
4. This board offers a mix of Foundation on core subjects and Cross cultural activities, there by leading
to a holistic approach towards learning. The main objective of Cambridge is to produce global
citizens.
5. This curriculum focuses on problem solving skills, interdisciplinary approach and presentation skills.

֎ Slide3
6. The curriculum’s structure is known as the Cambridge Pathway and consists of Cambridge Primary for
G1 to 5, Cambridge Lower Secondary for G6 to 8, Cambridge Upper Secondary IGCSE G9 & 10 and
Cambridge Advanced G 11 and 12. Let us see each stage in detail.

֎ Slide 4
7. Starting with Cambridge primary: As the name indicates, it caters the students who fall under the age
group of 5 to 11 years. In Kennedy we provide the core subjects as English, math, science along with
other subjects such as social, Computers, Hindi or French as 2nd language etc.

֎ Slide5
8. The strength of Cambridge curriculum is its assessment. It has a 2 way assessment,
1-Progression test- This is a school level assessment
Every year our school goes for a primary certification by paying a significant amount of money to the
Cambridge University. They provide us with progression papers, SOW and activity planner, which guide our
teachers to prepare their lessons to be taught in the class by using different innovative methods, which in
turn helps to develop critical thinking and future ready skills in our students.

2-Check Point test is a diagnostic test which guides the students to face the exam and perform better and
also to enhance their analytical and critical thinking skills. Cambridge Primary Checkpoint papers are fully
marked by CIE. Results are given as Cambridge Primary Checkpoint scores. We get the check point exam
paper from the University of Cambridge and later the answer sheets are submitted to Cambridge board in
UK for evaluation. Here we get a clear report on students’ strength and areas to be improved.

֎ Slide6
9. Cambridge Primary Checkpoint offers a good opening to Cambridge Lower Secondary as it follows the
same system, subject areas, curriculum structure and assessments. The Cambridge Lower Secondary
Checkpoint is meant for G6 – 8 students. Here we have the same set of subjects but tremendous focus
on the core subjects such as ENG, math n sci. Students write secondary checkpoint exam in Grade 8.
֎ Slide7
The Cambridge Lower Secondary Checkpoint builds on the knowledge and skills that facilitates smooth
transition of students who will go on to study Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of
Secondary Education).

֎ Slide8
IGCSE is the third stage and the most popular group.

֎ Slide9
It is a 2 year program from G9 to 10. After completing which students will be awarded with IGCSE
certificate.

֎ Slide10
Here the concepts are more deeper and taught with a more practical approach.

֎ Slide 11
At KENNEDY we offer CAMBRIDGE International Education for G1 to IGCSE 2 that is G10.

֎ Slide 12

The reason behind it is;

1. Cambridge qualifications give students excellent preparation and success for universities
2. Students gain in-depth subject knowledge
3. Cambridge students think independently, logically and present coherent arguments
4. They are able to present reasoned explanation, understand implications and
communicate clearly.
