Research Methodology

Introduction

This chapter explains the various methodologies that were used in gathering data and analysis which are
relevant to the research. The methodologies include areas such as research design, locale and duration
of the study, respondents, sampling design, instrumentation and statistical analysis.

Research Design

This study descriptive correlational research design is defined as a research method in which the
researcher is primarily interested in describing relationships among variables, without seeking to
establish a casual correlation (Quaranta, 2017). This design is used to correlate the level of health
knowledge and physiologic effects of the utilization of Electronic Cigarettes.

Locale and Duration of the Study

The study was carried out in International School of Asia and the Pacific, Kalinga.

Respondents

The respondents were composed of 68 students which includes: 53 college students and 13 senior high
school students.

Research Instrumentation

In this study, the researchers used survey questionnaire as a way of data collection.

A survey questionnaire uses open-ended questions to produce long-form written/typed answers.

Questions will aim to reveal opinions, experiences, narratives or accounts. Often a useful precursor to
interviews or focus groups as they help identify initial themes or issues to then explore further in the
research. Surveys can be used iteratively, being changed and modified over the course of the research to
elicit new information. Also, qualitative surveys frequently include quantitative questions to establish
elements such as age, nationality etc. (Green, 2018).

The questionnaire itself was made by the researchers. Hence, it composed of three parts; profiling of
respondents, level of knowledge, and factors that influence the utilization of Electronic Cigarettes.
