Project Title:

Garden of Nutrition: Growing awareness for special needs.

This project aims to raise awareness about food and nutrition among students with special
needs through hands – on gardening activities. We will focus to create an inclusive
environment where students will learn how to eat healthy food while being engaged in
gardening. So, it will be a therapeutic and educational experience for them.

OBJECTIVES

Education: to teach students about nutrition and how it is benefits to grow our own food.

Skill development: to help the learners to develop gardening skills that will promote
autonomy.

Community engagement: to support a sense of community through collaborative gardening


efforts.

Health Awareness: encourage healthy eating habits among each students and their
families

Project Design

1.Target Audience

Students with different disabilitiea

Family and caregivers of the students with special needs

Local community members like religious communities, business community, support


communities

Key activities

Workshop: to do a monthly workshop on nutrition and gardening with the students and
their relatives.

Gardening sessions: to conduct weekly session on how to do gardening. Mainly on how to


plant. How to maintain the garden and how to harvest

Nutrition class. To introduce nutrition education into the gardening sessions. To learn and
discuss about the different vegatables and fruits and their benefits.
Community harvest festival: after each harvest to host a celebration to showcase the
production of the students.

MATERIALS NEEDED

Gardening supplies: soil, watering cans, pots, towels, gloves

Educational materials: posters, brochures on nutrition and handouts on growing


vegetables.

Space

To secure a community garden plot to collaborate with other schools

Volunteers: to look for volunteers from local schools or gardening enthusiasts.

Implementation plan

Budgeting

To estimate the cost for supplies, educational materials, and for the space to rent if there is
no space in the school.

Use community donations and grants to fund the project

Implement a crowdfunding campaign to engage local business.

TIMELINE:

For the 1st month, to plan the project, find a space and gather all the materials needed

For the 2nd month to select all the students which will do the project

For month 3rd to 6th, to conduct workshop, gardening sessions and nutrition classes and
also to host the community harvest festival.

LOW COST STRATEGIES.

Use community resources: to use gardens which already exist to eliminate space cost.

Recycled materials: use recycle materials like plastic bottle for planting and recycling tools
from. Planters.

Community donations: to look for contributions in form of seeds, tools and financial
support from local business.
