The table illustrates how many students attended four secondary school types between 2000 and 2009.
Generally, in the first year the percentage of high school students attending Voluntary-controlled schools was
the highest and Community schools and Specialist schools were the lowest, but by 2009 the percentage of
high school student attendance at Community schools has an increased percentage and occupies the highest
percentage position. However, there are very few students studying in Specialist schools.
In 2000, Voluntary-controlled Schools reach a high with 52%. Community schools and Specialist schools have a
lower percentage of secondary school attendance at 12%. In addition, secondary school attendance voluntary-
controlled schools and community schools the highest in 2005 at 38% and 32%, specialist schools and
grammar schools at 11% and 19%.
In 2009, secondary school attendance specialist schools which was only 10%, which was 2% decline compared
to grammar schools. Voluntary-controlled schools show a dramatic decline trend and ended up with only 20%.
Community schools had 58% students attendance in 2019.
