1. A thing that we can see or touch is called an object.


2. The examples of floating objects are ball, wooden stick,
plastic spoon.
3. The examples of sinking objects are metal spoon, coin, key.
4. Solids do not change shape when they are moved from
place to place. The examples of solids are book, pencil, and
chair.
5. Liquids can change shape. Liquids follows the shape of its
container. The examples of liquids are water, milk, and
orange juice.
6. Gasses have no shape. It can change shape and size. The
example of gas is air.
7. There are two kinds of sounds, they are loud sound and soft
sound. The examples of loud sounds are siren, alarm clock,
and thunder. The examples of soft sounds are whisper,
heartbeat, and chick.
8. Some sounds are high and some sounds are low. A triangle
makes the high sound. A drum makes a low sound.
9. Vibrates means to move back and forth very fast.
10. Sounds are made when something vibrates.
11. The examples of light sources are sun, fire, and a light bulb.
12. A shadow is made when something blocks the light.
13. Heat comes from the light of the sun.
14. Some things that give off heat are fire, lamps, toaster, stove,
and rubbing things together.
15. Heat moves easily through metal.
16. Heat does not move easily through foam, wood, and cloth.
17. Some examples of energies that can move things are
batteries, hand pushing, hand pulling, and magnet.
18. When a magnet attracts, it pulls some things toward it. A
magnet attracts paper clip, needle, pin, metal spoon.
19. When a magnet repels, it pushes another magnet away.
20. Simple machine make work easier. The examples of simple
machines are:

21. A wheel helps to move heavy load.


22. A ramp makes it easier to move thing up or down.
23. A lever can be used to take a lid off a box.
24. A pulley is used to lift a big box.
25. Rocks come in many sizes, colors, and shapes. They can be
shiny or dull. They also can be rough or smooth.
26. Weathering is the breaking down of rocks and minerals on
Earth's surface.
27. Air, water, and ice can change the shape of rocks.
28. Soil is made of tiny bits of rocks.
29. Living things need soil in many ways.

Animals find food in the soil.

People use soil to grow food.

Roots of plants needs soil to keep growing.

30. The Earth has land and water.

The Earth has flat, mountain, meadow and hill on the land.

The Earth also has river, stream, lake.

31. The globe shows the shape of Earth. The blue color on globe
shows water. The rest is land.
32. People, plants, and animals need clean air, land, and water
to stay alive and healthy.
33. When we reuse something, we use it again. Instead of
throwing away a box, we can make a toy of it.
34. Another way to use something again is to recycle. Plastic
bottles can be melted and might become a new chair.
35. Weather is always changing. The examples of weather are
sunny, rainy, cloudy, and windy.
36. Temperature shows how hot or cold it is.
37. We use a thermometer to measure the temperature.

39. There is water in the air. We call it water vapor.
40. Clouds are made of tiny drops of water or ice. The water can
fall from the clouds as rain, snow, or hail.

42. The sun is much bigger than the Earth. The sun looks small
because it is so far away.
43. Living things need the sun. Without the sun, there would be
almost no life on Earth.
44. A telescope can help us to see far thing such as the moon.
45. The shape of the moon is called phases. Some phases of the
moon are:

46. Moon doesn’t make its own light. Light from the sun shines on
the moon.
47. Stars are made of hot gases that glow. Stars give off their
own light.
48. Our sun is a star.
49. Orion and Big Dipper are the examples of groups of stars that
form a pattern/picture.
