Checklist before charging 18.

75MVA Hitachi make Transformer

1. IR value of transformer along with incomer cables is satisfactory.

2. BDV value of oil is satisfactory.

3. All interlocks are checked.

4. Bleeding of oils from all bleeding points.

5. Check the transformer physically.

6. Checking of furnace side physically.

7. Oil pump should be on.

8. Water flow should be ensured.

9. Work permit should be withdrawn.

10. Oil temperature and winding temperature to be noted down.

11. Responsible person should be placed in strategic location while switching on with clearly
known their respective responsibility.

Checking points after charging

1. Value of current and voltages in SMS Area Substation and furnace control room.

2. Sound generated in the transformer while charging and after charging.

3. OT & WT to be noted in regular interval.

4. Temperature of various part of the transformer to measured and monitored.

5. If Buchholz came check it and discuss it with commissioning engineer of SAEW as air trapped
inside transformer may come out after charging due to vibration.

6. Keep the transformer under surveillance for 12 hours after charging.

7. Note the final temperature rise.
