PRINCIPLES OF PLANING

1. Aspect : – doors and windows in that direction


Kitchen – E, SE, NE.
Bedroom - W, SW, NW.
Living room – SE, NE.
Study room – N
Veranda – N, S.
W/C and Bath – Any direction where ventilation

2. Prospect : -
- The external view available from inside the building through window or door is
known as prospect.
- In the form of balcony or window
- Window – hall – towards the road
Bedroom – away form the road

3. Orientation : -
- Long wall – provided parallel North south
- Short wall – provided parallel to East West

4. Privacy : -
- External
- Internal

5. Circulation : – to provide common passage

7. Roominess : - related to dimension of unit ( 1:1.2, 1:1.5)

5. Window sill height 900mm form plinth level.
6. Slab thickness, chajja thickness 150mm.
7. Projection of chajja 450mm.
8. Wall thickness, external wall thickness 300mm.

9. Staircase : - Trade 230mm, Rise 150mm, width of stair 1m. types of stair dog-legged
