• Working in OlaMaps Backend team which is responsible for developing Ola’s inhouse routing services.
• Real-time Route Comparator - Led the Development of a service from the ground up that reads and
processes real-time routing events from Kafka and performs field comparisons to detect deviations.
• Leveraged Java and Spring Boot for seamless development, and this service played a crucial role in
OlaMaps’ successful go-live strategy.
• Fine-tuned the application to achieve a read speed of 5000 messages per second from Kafka.
• Enhancement of Map Data - Led the development of a Java-based tool that parses OpenStreetMap
(OSM) files and splits WayIds based on identified junctions, resulting in the creation of enriched map data.
• Incorporated Java libraries for XML parsing to handle OSM file data efficiently.
• Fed this enriched data to the routing engine and achieved 10% improvement in the number of routes
with ETA deviation under 5 minutes compared to actual.
• ETA Calculator - Contributed to the development of a realtime ETA job project that leveraged live cab
pings data to calculate ETA.
• Used Scala Spark Streaming for distributed processing of 1.5 million data per minute, Utilized Kafka
as a messaging system for seamless data consumption and production.
• Incorporated the GraphHopper library for internal routing related computations.
• Created comprehensive routing API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI specification, providing clear
and detailed descriptions of all endpoints and parameters for improved developer experience.
• Ola Maps Go-Live Support -Contributed to the successful launch of Ola Maps for Mobility use cases by
meticulously preprocessing data for the routing engine.
