Week 11: Course Task CU 4

Make a reaction paper on two (2) videos attached in the modules (week 7).

Video 1 – Fighting Tuberculosis in the Philippines Tuberculosis in the Philippines is a due long health
problem and up to now still number one causes of morbidity and mortality amongst Filipino. As a
future nurse, what will be your contribution or plans at least to minimize the cases of tuberculosis in
the Philippines. How can you see the cases of tuberculosis in the Philippines 5 years from now?

• As an aspiring nurse, it is my duty to teach patients how to recognize the signs and symptoms of
PTB. If they suspect they have PTB, I will advise them to get medical attention as soon as feasible. I
will also educate PTB patients and their families on how to prevent PTB from spreading to other
family members, such as washing their hands, minimizing contact with the PTB patient, and cleaning
and disinfecting things and surfaces that the patient uses. I will also educate the patient on the
significance of taking all of their medications as recommended in order to avoid developing
antibiotic resistance. I also want to assist make healthcare services available in remote places, such
as my own province, so that everyone has access to the medical treatment they require. I expect
that as medicine advances, the number of tuberculosis cases will decrease in the next five years.

Video 2 –A Multi-drug Resistant TB Patient’s Story. Who is to blame on the plight of the patient with
MDR TB, Is it the government, the medical practitioner or the patient? What are your
recommendations? Expound your answers.

• In order to recover from PTB, a patient must adhere to take the antibiotics that have been given to
them. However, I am aware that the patient may experience extreme stress if they must purchase
antibiotics and are unable to attend work. I hope that in addition to providing PTB patients with
medical care and prescription drugs, the government would also make sure that they have the
opportunity to work from home while they still possess PTB. It's important for medical professionals
to be aware of the perspectives of those suffering with infectious illnesses. Fear of discrimination
from others is one of the main reasons why many patients avoid getting checkups. Patients should
view us as kind, kind, and someone they can trust in their hour of greatest need, therefore I hope
this stops.
As a student nurse how will you go about the problems and what are the solutions are you going to
take. Submit a 300 word essay reflection for the two (2) videos.

• As a student nurse, I would make sure to put in a lot of study time so that I could develop the abilities
to Inform the people on ways to stop infectious illnesses from spreading throughout the
neighborhood. Education is one of the remedies that come to mind. The best strategy, in my opinion,
is to educate the people on how to stop the spread of infectious illnesses. Regarding the because
being aware of the symptoms and indications of communicable diseases and understanding how to
prevent them can help people avoid infecting their family members, which will stop the disease's
causative agent from spreading. Since vaccination boosts the immune system, it is the best method
to avoid contracting communicable illnesses, thus I would also spread awareness of its significance.
Regarding vaccinations, there have been misconceptions and misinformation. However,
immunizations have a significant role in both public and family health. Vaccines stop fatal, harmful,
and infectious illnesses from spreading. These include COVID-19, HPV, whooping cough, chicken pox,
polio, mumps, measles, and diphtheria. Vaccines are necessary for everyone. For babies, kids, teens,
and adults, they are advised. Despite the circumstances, I hope that more people will follow health
measures to stop the spread of infectious illnesses, like: Immunize against contagious infections,
remain at home if you're ill, wash and rinse your hands often, and cover coughs and sneezes, keep
your house ventilated, clean surfaces often, cook safely, and engage in safe sexual behavior. And for
us student nurse that are also aspiring to be future nurses, it’s our duty to study hard because the
lesson that we study for may save someone’s life tomorrow.
