United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC)


Agenda: Human rights of migrants - right to nationality, access to education and health

Emphasizing the core principles of human rights enshrined in international conventions,


Recalling the SDG target 10.7 which calls on countries to “facilitate orderly, safe, regular and responsible
migration and mobility of people, including through the implementation of planned and well-managed
migration policies”,

Emphasising the need to adhere to Article 13 and 25 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with
regards to migrants and their needs,

Welcoming the efforts of the international community towards providing better health and education
facilities to migrant families as well as address the human rights issues faced by migrants,
Expressing grave concern regarding the harsh challenges faced by migrants, including xenophobia,
discrimination, racism, and stereotyping,
Reaffirming the intrinsic dignity and rights of all individuals, regardless of their migration status,
Reiterating the duty of states to protect and uphold the human rights of all individuals within their
jurisdictions,
Recognises the role of government in creating and simultaneously breaking the stereotypes about the
situation of migrants in other countries,

1) Calls upon member states to intensify efforts in combating xenophobia, discrimination, racism, and
stereotypes against migrants through education, awareness campaigns, and legal measures;
2) Urges the establishment of comprehensive support systems for migrants to ensure their access to vital
services, including healthcare, education, and legal assistance;
3) Endorses the promotion of cultural exchange programs to foster understanding and tolerance between
migrant communities and host societies;
4) Calls for the ratification and effective implementation of relevant international treaties and agreements
aimed at protecting the rights of migrants;
5) Strongly advises the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to monitor and report on the
global human rights situation of migrants, including recommendations for improvement;
6) Encourages the idea of “Emergency Support Funds” for migrants, which would provide immediate
financial assistance to the migrants facing crises, such as natural disaster or sudden changes in immigration
policies;
7) Demands the establishment of an independent ombudsman specifically for migrant issues, which would
investigate complaints, advocate for migrant rights and ensure that government policies are effectively
implemented;
8) Strongly Recommends member states to recognise propaganda, fake reports and false articles regarding
nations that are already highlighted, and not continue allegations based on them;
9) Advises the member states to integrate “Human Rights And Migration Studies” into the school curricula
with interactive modules and workshops that educate the students about the rights of migrants and the
importance of diversity and inclusion;
10) Suggests member states to review, revise, and amend their immigration and/or migration policies and
end any kind of discrimination, including good and bad;
