“Speech Analysis”

A Speech Analysis is an evaluation of speech. Speech analysis examines the

elements that make up an effective speech. Further, to comment on a speech is
to give feedback on the speaker because it identifies which speech elements are
effective or ineffective. Thus, the speaker can improve communication skills
based on the feedback.

Directions:
1. Watch the sample oral communication activity attentively and
comprehensively.
2. On an A4 bond paper, analyze the speech in accordance to the speech’s
and speaker’s:
a. Function/s of Communication;
b. Purpose/s of Communication;
c. Central Message;
d. Delivery Techniques;
e. Language; and,
f. Content and Organization
3. In writing your speech analysis, make sure to create a Thesis Statement
(the topic, the claim, the major points) that states the main idea of your
analysis.
4. Your speech analysis should contain the basic parts: Introduction, Body,
and Conclusion. Your speech analysis should have a minimum number of 5
paragraphs, as to how many paragraphs in each part (i.e. introduction,
body, conclusion), that depends on your writing style and goal. There
should be a minimum 5 sentences in each paragraph.
5. In writing, observe the proper margin (1 inch at the left side, and ½ inch at
the ride side of the A4 bond paper).
6. Since this is also a commentary, back up your analysis with evidences
and/or citations, using APA 7th edition. Write the Reference right after your
Speech Analysis.
7. As to format, follow the following:
 Size: A4
 Font Style: Tahoma
 Font Size: 11
 Spacing: Single
 Margin: 1 inch (left), ½ (right)
 Follow the proper indention in every paragraph
8. Submit on or before August 30, 2024, during our class schedule.
