Amna Tareen - UAE Statement of Purpose
I am eager to pursue a Postgraduate Research degree in Business and Management at the University of East Anglia,
driven by a commitment to further my knowledge in financial analysis, corporate strategy, and organizational
management. With a strong academic background in Accounting and Finance, complemented by practical
experience in financial analysis and accounts management, I aim to contribute to the academic community while
developing specialized research skills that will empower me to address critical issues within the corporate finance
and business management fields.
Throughout my academic journey, I have built a solid foundation in financial analysis, corporate reporting, and cost
accounting. My M.S. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Central Punjab has equipped me with
advanced knowledge in core areas like consolidated financial statements, internal auditing, and advanced corporate
reporting. During my undergraduate studies at Punjab University and later at the University of Management and
Technology, I gained a comprehensive understanding of financial management principles, accounting processes, and
financial analysis techniques. My academic path has not only strengthened my analytical abilities but also honed my
skills in critical thinking, quantitative analysis, and effective communication.
My professional experience as a Financial Analyst at Bank Alfalah Ltd. has further developed my analytical and
managerial skills. I am responsible for processing vendor payments, managing tax submissions to the Federal Board
of Revenue (FBR), maintaining daily vendor payment records, and preparing monthly expense reports for the CFO.
This role has provided me with a strong foundation in managing financial processes, understanding regulatory
requirements, and making data-driven decisions. Additionally, my experience with budgeting, variance analysis, and
accrual management has deepened my understanding of organizational finance and cost management. This hands-
on experience has reinforced my interest in research, as I often encounter challenges related to budgeting, expense
forecasting, and risk assessment—areas I hope to explore in greater depth during my research degree.
Prior to my role at Bank Alfalah, I served as an Accountant at Techno Media Event Management Company, where I
handled day-to-day transactions, internal audit matters, and tax return preparation. This experience allowed me to
develop a structured approach to financial management, build effective relationships with stakeholders, and refine
my problem-solving skills. Through these roles, I have learned to approach challenges with resilience and a thorough,
detail-oriented mindset, ensuring that I deliver reliable, high-quality work.
I am particularly interested in exploring topics such as financial risk management, corporate governance, and the
impact of financial decision-making on organizational growth and sustainability. I believe that the University of East
Anglia, with its world-class faculty, interdisciplinary approach, and strong focus on research, will provide the ideal
environment for me to pursue these interests. I am drawn to the university’s emphasis on innovative research and
its commitment to fostering a collaborative and supportive academic community. Additionally, the university’s
resources and research facilities will enable me to conduct in-depth analyses, contribute to the field of business
management, and develop practical solutions that address real-world financial and managerial challenges.
My long-term goal is to leverage my academic and professional expertise to contribute to the business management
and finance sector in Pakistan. I aspire to work with multinational organizations, where I can apply advanced
research insights to enhance corporate performance, strategic planning, and financial sustainability. Moreover, I am
committed to sharing my knowledge with future generations of business professionals, and I plan to engage in
academic and professional mentorship roles. By pursuing postgraduate research at the University of East Anglia, I
hope to gain the critical knowledge, research skills, and global perspective required to make meaningful
contributions to both academia and the corporate world.
In conclusion, I am confident that the Postgraduate Research program in Business and Management at the University
of East Anglia aligns perfectly with my academic background, professional experience, and career aspirations. I am
eager to engage with the university’s distinguished faculty, contribute to impactful research, and develop insights
that will help me become a thought leader in the field. I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to contribute to the
university’s research community and look forward to the intellectual growth that this program will undoubtedly
provide.
