Do you really want to make an

impression?
During your
introduction, you
should tell your
audience what the
structure of your
presentation will
be.
When you drive on the roads, you know where you
are on those roads. Each road has a name or number.
But when you give a presentation, how can your
audience know where they are? How can they know
the structure of your presentation? How can they
know what is coming next? They know because you
tell them, because you put up signposts for them,
at the beginning and all along the route.
"I'll start by describing the current position in
Europe. Then I'll move on to some of the
achievements we've made in Asia. After that I'll
consider the opportunities we see for further
expansion in Africa. Lastly, I'll quickly recap before
concluding with some recommendations."

 After you have answered your question, check
that the person who asked you is happy with the
answer.

 If you don't know the answer to a question, say you don't know.
It's better to admit to not knowing something than to guess and
maybe get it wrong. You can say something like:
 "That's an interesting question. I don't actually know off
the top of my head, but I'll try to get back to you later
with an answer."
"I'm afraid I'm unable to answer that at the moment.
Perhaps I can get back to you later."
"Good question. I really don't know! What do you think?"
"That's a very good question. However, we don't have
any figures on that, so I can't give you an accurate
answer."
"Unfortunately, I'm not the best person to answer that."

speak too fast you
will lose your
audience!
 Use short words and short sentences.
 Do not use jargon, unless you are certain
that your audience understands it.
 In general, talk about concrete facts rather
than abstract ideas.

that."
"Put another way, this
means…"
"What I mean to say is…"
