000 GENERAL DESCRIPTION

001 INTRODUCTION
The design of the vessel as described in this outline specification and related general arrangement
plan is a well-considered dedicated geared vessel for the purpose of transporting bulk cargoes,
break bulk, general cargoes, containers on hatch covers, steel coils, etc.

All values, arrangements and capacities are believed to be valid and accurate but remain
pending the final design and final information from builder, equipment supplier and system
integrator.

Design philosophy
The vessel as described is designed for unrestricted worldwide navigation considering the here
below mentioned design criteria or limits.

The vessel is to be constructed to provide a safe and efficient vessel for worldwide operation. Due
consideration is to be given to:
Safety of the personnel and the vessel;
Lowest possible/practical total fuel oil consumption for operating according the given
operational profile;
Durability of materials and equipment;
Simplicity of operation;
Easy access for maintenance of all equipment and structural items;
Easy replacement of equipment;
Labour-saving arrangements and ergonomic work functions.

The vessel has two (2) box- shaped dry cargo holds, fitted for bulk cargoes.

The powering of the vessel is by means of engines running in accordance with IMO Tier III. Engines
are to be designed for the use of low sulphur MGO (ULSFO DM).

The single controllable pitch propeller has an optimum diameter ensuring, in combination with
optimized hull lines and a Groot Cross-Bow®, best possible efficiency at design draught and speed.

The emergency/harbour generator is dedicated for emergency and limited harbour purposes only
and is running on low sulphur MGO (ULSFO DM), being totally independent from the ships main fuel
system.

Further the engine room houses a ballast/bilge pumping area, cooling water / heat recovery area,
fuel oil / lubricating oil treatment area, converter room and a switch board room. In the ballast
water system, a ballast water treatment plant is included. The plant will reduce sediments to a
minimum by the use of filters. Harmful organisms and pathogens will be killed according the IMO
regulations by means an electro-catalysis principle (or an equivalent system). This system is selected
due to the effectiveness and the low impact on the load balance.

For optimum manoeuvring a flap-type spade rudder is installed, operated by a ram-type steering
gear, and a bow thruster installed in the fore ship.

The vessel is provided with two wire luffing cargo cranes.

Comfortable living quarters and workspaces are accommodated in a superstructure located on

the aftship. The bridge layout has a high ergonomic standard with an optimum view on the vessel
during all operations.

The General Arrangement Plan represents the above-mentioned design philosophies and is an
integral part of this specification.

standards.

008 SPEED AND PERFORMANCE

The service speed at summer draft is 10,0 knots with a shaft power Ps of 1.340 kW, including 15% sea
margin. These values assume a clean, coated hull and propeller in deep water, no current and no
trim. The maximum speed, using full engine power and full PTI boost, is 12 kts.

009 MODEL TESTS

The ship is to be tested at a model test facility. The following tests to be performed:
Model tests in calm water with a stock propeller/nozzle (resistance and propulsion, at:
ballast-, design- and full draft);
Model tests in calm water with the designed propeller/nozzle.

Prior to the model tests the preliminary underwater hull shape is to be optimized by means of CFD
evaluation process in consultation with the naval architect (Groot Ship Design) and the propeller
designer. The model tests to be performed with the optimized hull shape, including hull
appendages, bowthruster tunnel and propeller nozzle.
