Question bank for Computer Aided Engineering Graphics -22GE111

Students are advised to practice the below Questions well. It is just a model. Understand the various
orientations and practice the problems.
Unit 1 – Curves
1. Draw the locus of a point P which moves in a plane in such a way that the ratio of its
distances from a fixed point F and a fixed straight line AB is always 2/3. The distance
between the fixed point F and the fixed straight line is 35mm. Also draw a tangent and
normal on a point on the locus at a horizontal distance of 50mm from the fixed straight line.
2. Draw a parabola, when the distance from fixed point to fixed line is 35mm. Also draw tangent
and normal to any point on the curve.
3. Draw an ellipse, when the focal point of it is at 35mm from the fixed line. Also draw a
tangent and normal to any point on the curve. Take eccentricity e = 0.75.
4. Draw the locus of a point such that, the distance of focus from the vertex is 22 mm and
eccentricity is 4/3. Also draw a tangent and normal at any point on the curve.
5. Draw the conic curve, when the distance from vertex to directrix is 20mm. Also draw tangent
and normal to any point on the curve. Take eccentricity e= ¾.

Unit 3 – Projections of Planes (also write the autocad commands used for the drawing)
1. Draw the projections of a regular Hexagonal lamina of side 20mm having one of its
corners in HP and its surface inclined at 45° to HP.
2. A regular pentagonal lamina of side 25mm is resting on HP on one of its sides and its
surface is making an angle of 30° to HP. Draw the projections.
3. An Equilateral triangle of side 40mm has one of its sides in the HP such that the corner
opposite to the resting side is raised by 20 mm above the H.P. Draw its front view and
top view.
4. Draw the projections of a regular pentagonal lamina of side 30mm having one of its edges
in HP and its surface inclined at 30° to HP.
5. A regular pentagonal lamina of side 25mm is resting on VP on one of its corners and its
surface is making an angle of 45° to VP. Draw the projections.
6. A regular hexagon of 20 mm side, held with its two sides vertical and the centre of the
plane is at 50mm above HP and 40mm in front of VP. Draw its projections when the
surface is vertical and inclined at 40º to the VP.
7. Draw the projections of a circular lamina of 60mm diameter having its plane vertical and
inclined at 30º to the V.P. Its centre is 60mm above the H.P. and 50mm in front of the
V.P.
8. A rectangular plate 60mm x 40mm has one of its shorter edges in the VP and its surface is
inclined at 30° to VP. Draw its front view and top view.
9. A rectangular plane of sides 40mm x 25mm has one of its longer edges on the VP and the
surface of the plane is inclined at 40 ° to the VP and perpendicular to HP. Draw the
projections.
10. A square lamina of side 50mm edges rests on the VP on a corner such that its surface is
inclined at 30° to VP. Draw its front view and top view.

Unit 4 Projections of Solids (also write the autocad commands used for the drawing.)
1. A hexagonal prism having edges of base 30 mm each, axis height 60 mm has one of its
edges in the VP. Draw its projections, when its axis is inclined at 30 ° to the HP &
parallel to VP.
2. A pentagonal prism having base side 25 mm and axis height 70 mm has one of its corners
in the HP. Draw its projections, when its axis is inclined at 35° to the HP & parallel to
VP.
3. Draw the orthographic projections of a pentagonal pyramid of base edge 30 mm and axis
height 60 mm, resting on HP on a base edge with a triangular face contained by it is
perpendicular to HP &VP.
4. Draw the orthographic projections of a pentagonal pyramid of base edge 30 mm and axis
height 60 mm, resting on HP on a corner such that the slant edge contained by it is
perpendicular to HP, axis parallel to VP.
5. Draw the top and the front view of a right circular cylinder of base 50 mm diameter and
60 mm long when a point of its base rests on HP such that its axis is inclined at 40 ° to
HP.
