The IMCA Dynamic Positioning Officer CPD App - Module 4
Booking prices
Rate: £45
Estimated Duration : 4 - 6 hours
Description : The IMCA Dynamic Positioning Officer CPD App - Module 4 contains a range of
information, subjects and lessons around the subject of field arrival trials, a topic which has been the
subject of much discussion recently including at IMCAs annual DP conference in May 2023.
Field arrival trials are a key part of the overall vessel assurance process prior to “going to work” on DP
and through analysis of our DP station keeping event reporting scheme, we can see that undertaking
such trials may have prevented many DP incidents in the last year. We also address the subject of
SIMOPS which is a well discussed subject traditionally within the energy industry. However, with the
significant increase in offshore wind, with constant demands of multiple vessels in the field, the
subject is no less important than previously. We take a deep dive into Laser position references and
consider two related case studies, provide an overview of the basics of DP controllers and operator
stations then look at some fundamentals around open and closed bus operations.
Module 4 contains the following content:
• Field arrival trials
• Open and closed bus operations
• Laser Position references
• DP controllers and operator stations
• Simultaneous Operations
• Mission Types & Effects – ROV / OSV / AHT
• Case Study 1 – Masking of Position References
• Case study 2 – Laser target jump
Note: Module 4 is only available six months after the purchase and completion of Module 3.
The course and information within will be available for a period of 12 months from date of
purchase.
Once completed, you will be issued with a 'module completion certificate' directly from EdApp.

The IMCA Dynamic Positioning Officer CPD App - Module 5
Booking prices
Rate: £45
Estimated Duration : 4 - 6 hours
Description :
In Module 5, we consider the complex subject of network storms. Part 1 of this subject introduces the
topic and presents the challenge. We then go on to discuss the importance of DP configuration which
is closely linked to network topology.
Module 5 introduces the subject of sensors and takes a deep dive into anemometers - other sensor
technologies will be discussed in future modules. We then consider the independent joystick and its
importance in the DP operation before looking at power management systems.
Moving on to DP logs and checklists, we consider their purpose and benefit before looking at mission-
specific vessel types including accommodation and drilling vessels. Watch out for IMCA’s push
notifications where we use the app to issue the latest DP bulletin published by IMCA’s DP committee.
The course and information within will be available for a period of 12 months from date of purchase.
