SLS1510 2247: #101___ FALL 2024 SYLLABUS COURSE CONTRACT

I, ___________________________________, have reviewed this syllabus in its entirety on October , 2024,


with my parents. Together, WE understand that any and all of MY questions, concerns, and/or issues MUST be
presented by ME DURING class time with Professor Kilpatrick directly, and she will gladly address them at the
time they are presented. Furthermore, by initialing next to each item We, both my parents and I, fully understand
ALL of the following:
1. _____TOP HAT assignments are MANDATORY and are due at midnight on the Sunday night after the
date it is assigned. They are assigned on MONDAY and are ALL DUE the following SUNDAY.

2. _____I will have mandatory online timed (60 seconds per question) QUIZIZZ assessments that must be
completed DURING class on the chapter completed the previous week, and one on John A. Ferguson.

3. _____I will have Peer generated Interactive Activities (Kahoot/Quizizz) that are worth TWO (3) points
each.

4. _____I will have Journal entries that are worth TWO (2) points each.

5. _____I will have Penmanship entries worth ONE (1) point each.

6. _____I must complete & present one MANDTORY Group project worth eighteen (18) project grades

7. ____I will have grades in MDCPS Gradebook, Schoology, and some in my SLS1510 MDC CANVAS
TopHat account. The Schoology and TopHat grades will be integrated (added) to the MDCPS gradebook
throughout the semester. At the end of the semester on January 26, 2025, ALL Schoology and TopHat
grades will be integrated into the Gradebook to calculate my final grade in the course. My final grade in the
course will appear and post on January 26, 2025, in MDCPS gradebook and MDC Canvas account as
the final course grade.

8. _____Professor Kilpatrick is limited when discussing my academic performance, standing, and/or grades
with my parents due to student privacy laws because I am an “adult” as it relates to this Dual Enrollment
college course.

9. ______Parents MUST login to MDCPS using their Parent Portal credentials, and they must log into
my CANVAS TopHat account on a WEEKLY basis using the credentials below to see my assignments,
grades, and/or progress in the course. Parents must address their concerns with their CHILD.
