ELE-09 System Earthing
ELE-09 System Earthing
1.2.1 Upon delivery to site, check type, size or model no., damage during
transportation, to make sure same as shipping list / delivery order.
Check catalogues for specification compliance.
1.3.1 All tools for use on the site area are to be in an operable condition.
Defective extension wire and plugs are not allowed.
2 CONSTRUCTION STAGE
2.1 Secure all the necessary reference drawing layout and determine the actual
position to commence installation with the mobilisation of required work force,
tools and equipment.
2.2 All equipment and system will be earthed using the correct type and size of
conductor as approved in accordance with the approved shop drawings and
sample supplied.
2.3 A common terminal earth bar is installed at the location which is accessible for
maintenance for each of every earthing system to form as a central connection
points before it run into the earth.
2.4 Copper tape with size 3mm x 35mm is used for the frame earth purpose and
PVC cable with the approved size shall be used for the neutral earth purpose.
2.5 Earth rods are driven to the ground at Ground Level at the surrounding area of
the building.
2.6 The number of earth rods and looping points required for an earthing point will
depend on the soil resistivity on that particular area.
2.7 The connection between the earth rods is joined using the earth rod coupler.
2.8 The earth resistance of the individual HV frame earth, LV frame earth and
neutral earth obtained must be less that 1.0 ohm. Whereas, the earth resistance of
the telephone earth obtained must be less that 5.0 ohm.
2.9 All connecting earth points are complete with earth chambers which are
installed flushed to the finishing soil level.
3.1 Drive an electrode (y) at least 10m away from the electrode under test (x).
Drive another electrode (z) midway between x and y.
3.2 Connect the cable ends of electrode x, y and z to earth tester. Records
readings in Inspection Report for Earth Resistance.
