Introductory Message
Welcome to Research Grade 10!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the

Schools Division of Capiz and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas through
the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is developed to
guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and responsible adults) in helping the
learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to

guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The Research 4 Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the leaching-learning
activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency (MELC) with minimal
or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner. This will be made available to
the learners with the references/links to ease the independent learning.

For the learner:

The Research 4 Activity Sheet is developed to help you continue learning

even if you are not in school. This learning material provides you with meaningful and
engaging activities for independent learning. Being an active learner, carefully read
and understand the instructions then perform the activities and answer the
assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on the agreed schedule.

Conducting Enhanced Continuing Research Project

I. Learning Competency with Code

• Conduct an enhanced/continuing research project (maybe done in different

research institutions)
SSP_RS10-ECR-II-g-j-3

II. Background Information for Learners

Scientists follow an instinctive process of conducting an experiment, the research
process. You are now in the physical conduct of the experiment which in the field makes up
a bulk of a research process. It is in this stage of field experimentation where the test
material/organism is grown and applied with the desired treatments. And as the experiment
progresses, the needed data and observations are gradually gathered following established
procedures. As soon as all the desired information are collected, the data are processed and
applied with appropriate statistical tests and procedures, to enable the researcher to make
accurate interpretation and draw his conclusions, thus generating new knowledge or
technology.
In this learning activity, you will learn to conduct and enhanced research project.

III. Activity Proper

Activity 1. Check to Check
Before the actual conduct of the experiment, it is important to see to it that
everything is well-prepared. This is needed to avoid confusion, ensure safety, hassle-
free, and accurate experimentation.
Directions: Have a copy of your enhanced research plan as reference to
accomplish the following checklist. Put a check mark (/) if you have
done what is in the checklist and X mark if you have not.

1. Is my research original (or modified, improved version) and did not just exactly
copy existing same research?

2. Is my research plan well-prepared?

2a. Was it scrutinized, revised and enhanced before the experimentation?

(written in future tense)
2b. Was it consulted and approved by the adult-sponsor, parent and if any,
qualified scientist?

4
2c. Were the four main parts included in the research plan?

3. Are the needed Intel ISEF forms before the conduct of experimentation signed
and completed by proper signatories?

3a. Checklist for Adult Sponsor

3b. Student Checklist

3c. Approval Form

3d. Qualified Scientist Form

3e. Risk Assessment Form (if applicable)

3f. Human Participant Form (if applicable)

3g. Human Informed Consent Form (if applicable)

3h. Vertebrate Animal Form (if applicable)

3i. Potentially Hazardous Biological Agents Risk Assessment Form (if

applicable)

3j. Human and Vertebrate Animal Tissue Form (if applicable)

4. Are the dates matching? (eg. date of signature vs. start of experimentation)

5. Are all the materials needed already collected?

6. Do I know the safety precautionary measures needed for the study?

7. Are the methods discussed with the adult sponsor to suit in the new normal?

As a researcher, make sure that ALL those in the checklist are accomplished before
conducting an experiment.

5
Activity 2. Hearts on, minds on: Actual conduct of an experiment
Actual conduct of an experiment may be crucial because the researcher is now
carrying out the procedure to support, refute, or validate a hypothesis. Experimental and
control setups are now being prepared.
Directions: While conducting your experiment, consider the following guide questions:
1. Is my adult sponsor and qualified scientist present during the actual conduct?
_____________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
2. Is the experiment conducted at home, school, or other institution within the
community?
_____________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
3. Is the procedure precisely followed? Or is there any revision?
_____________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
4. Why is there a need to have experimental and control setups?
_____________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
5. How many treatments and replications do you have?
_____________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
6. What is the experimental design used?
_____________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
7. Do you randomized? Why is it important?
_____________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________
8. How long is the actual experimentation? (Write the actual date)
_____________________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________________

Activity 3. Check it out: after the conduct of an experiment

1. Have you gathered all the parameters needed for the study?
______________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________

2. Have you encountered any problem or difficulty during the actual conduct of
an experiment? If yes, how were you able to solve it?
______________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________

3. What will you do to the data gathered during the experimentation?
