COURSE SYLLABUS IN STRATEGIES OF TEACHING

Course Title: STRATEGIES OF TEACHING Instructor: MENA ANONUEVO-CAOLI

PROGRAM VISION, MISSION, GOALS AND OBJECTIVES


VISION: Contribute to the global economy by training highly skilled workers using the state of the art technologies.
MISSION: Provide quality instructions and trainings through industry based competency curriculum.
GOAL: To produce self-reliant and competent Technical Education graduates, equipped with concrete knowledge
and skills, morally upright, responsive to a modern world of teaching and technological works.

OBJECTIVES: Strengthen the capabilities of the program to:


1. To develop competent Bachelor of Technical- Vocational Teacher Education (BTVTEd) graduates for global
competitiveness.
2. To provide the students with updated knowledge and employable skills through instruction, seminars, conferences,
trainings, and educational tours.
3. To conduct researches relevant to the program.
4. To establish linkages with TESDA and other establishment and companies for the industry immersion of students and
placement of graduates.
5. To conduct trainings and seminars in the community: Electronics, Electrical, Food Service Management, Automotive,
Drafting, and Garments.

Program Outcomes:
1. Demonstrate the competencies required of the Philippine TVET Trainers- Assessors Qualification Framework
(PTTQF);
2. Demonstrate broad and coherent, meaningful knowledge and skills in any of the specific fields in technical and
vocational education;
3. Apply with minimal supervision specialized knowledge and skills in any of the specific fields in technical and
vocational education;
4. Demonstrate higher level literacy, communication, numeracy, critical thinking, learning skills needed for higher
learning;
5. Manifest a deep and principled understanding of the learning processes and the role of the teacher in facilitating
these processes in their students;
6. Show a deep and principle how educational processes relate to larger historical, social, cultural and political
processes;
7. Apply a wide range of teaching process skills (including curriculum development, lesson planning, materials
development, educational assessment, and teaching approaches), and;
8. Reflect on the relationships among the teaching process skills, the learning processing in the students, the nature of
the content/subject matter, and other factors affecting educational processes in order to constantly improve their
teaching knowledge, skills, and practices.

Course Description:
This course deals with the various approaches, methods and techniques of teaching with emphasis on competency-based
training. It also provides the students the opportunity to prepare lesson plans, plan training sessions, and maintain teaching
resources and facilities.

Course Outcomes:
1. Acquire knowledge on different teaching methods and strategies, its salient features, and effectiveness as
employed in various learning situations as well as suggested guidelines for its smooth implementation.
2. Determine the appropriate teaching approaches and teaching methods to be used in planning a lesson.
3. Prepare lesson plan and plan training session to be used in micro teaching.

Course Policies

1. A student will be dropped from the class if his or her absences exceeded 20% of the total class hours.
2. A student will be marked late if he or she comes late for 15 minutes.
3. Three incidences of tardiness is equivalent to one absence.
4. Use of any gadgets in the class is prohibited unless required by the Instructor.
5. Only those with medical certificate and or excused letter from the guardian will be excused.
6. Academic dishonesty like cheating in any examination, plagiarism and the like will be penalized as stipulated in the
student handbook.
