Contextualization of the Curriculum
Introduction
Welcome to your 13th week in this course Teaching Social Studies in Intermediate
Grades. For the past 12 weeks, you learned about the Local History and Culture. These
backgrounds will serve as an avenue for your further inquiry of the available resources
in the community for the localization and contextualization of teaching of elementary
subjects particularly in Social Studies.
For this week, the focus of the discussion will be on Contextualization of the Curriculum
with emphasis on its Localization and Indigenization. Please answer the pre-test and
post-test to check your understanding of the lesson. Read and study the lecture notes
for your reference. Also, connect with your classmates through the Discussion forum.
