PARAPHRASING MEANS REWRITING THE SAME INFORMATION IN A
DIFFERENT WAY.IT HELPS YOU BETTER TO INTEGRATE THE IDEAS INTO THE
PARTICULAR PIECE YOU ARE WRITING.
STEPS:
1) UNDERLINE THE MAIN IDEAS AND THE KEY INFORMATION TO BE
CHANGED IN THE SENTENCE OR THE PARAGRAPH.
2) CHANGE THE WORD FORM/GRAMMATICAL FORM IF NECESSARY.
3) USE SYNONYMS WHEREVER REQUIRED : FOR EXAMPLE :
CHANGE ‘STUDENTS’ INTO ‘PUPILS’ OR ‘HAPPY’ INTO ‘CHEERFUL’,
‘JOYFUL’ ETC.
4) PRESENT YOUR IDEAS AND INFORMATION ACCORDING TO THE TOPIC
OR THE QUESTION GIVEN.
EXAMPLES:
1) ORIGINAL – SYMPTOMS OF THE FLU INCLUDE FEVER AND NASAL
CONGESTION.
PARAPHRASED – STUFFINESS OR STUFFY NOSE AND ELEVATED
TEMPARATURE ARE SIGNS OF THE FLU.
