Program/ Section: BSIT-1A Name of Facilitator: Ma'am Nimfa Bautista
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
1. Understand deeply about oneself by explaining the fundamental concepts of being a person.
2. Apply your knowledge of self-awareness by constructing your own set of personal values which
will guide you in decision-making.
OVERVIEW
Understanding who we are as Filipinos deepen our patriotic spirit and treasure our cultural
values that make us one. Increasing our burden or conviction motivates us to serve our nation with the
God given talents, skills, and abilities. The degree of using our potentials depends on what we valued in
life.
As discussed in Module 4, values are beliefs or the things that we believe important to us. Our
values affect and influence us in decision making. For example, you believe that telling the truth is very
important, then you will try to be truthful when you deal with other people.
LEARNING ACTIVITY 1:
What are the first five seem most important to you that influence your actions, choices, and decisions in
life? Why they are important to you? Give your reasons.
Honesty – truthfulness builds trust, integrity, and strong relationships, allowing for open
communication and growth.
Respect – valuing others’ dignity, opinions, and differences promotes inclusivity, empathy, and
constructive communication.
Self-awareness – Understanding myself, my strengths, weaknesses, and emotions helps me
make informed decisions, set boundaries, and grow personally.
Responsibility – embracing accountability for my actions and choices encourages reliability,
builds trust, and develops personal growth.
Kindness – Treating others with compassion and empathy creates positive connections, fosters
inclusivity, and promotes a supportive community.
Form a group with three members. Share to your group the most important in your life.
Compare your answer. Listen and get insights from your group mates. Compare your personal values
from them.
Socio-psycho experts crafted various instruments in understanding deeply your personal values
in life. Take time to fill up the Life Values Inventory designed by Duane Brown and Kelly Crace.
LEARNING ACTIVIITY 2:
SECTION I
Values are beliefs that influence people's behavior and decision-making. For example, if people
believe that telling the truth is very important, they will try to be truthful when they deal with other
people.
On the following pages is a list of beliefs that guides people's behavior and helps them make
important decisions. Read each one and then choose the response (1-5) that best describes how often
the belief guides your behavior.

If a belief in being healthy almost never guides your behavior, circle 1. If being healthy almost
always guides your behavior, circle 5. If the best answer for you is between 1 and 5, circle the number 2,
3, or 4 that most accurately describes how this belief guides your behavior.
Now you are ready to begin. Read each item carefully and circle only one response. Usually your
first idea is the best indicator of how you feel. Answer every item. There are no right or wrong answers.
Your choices should describe your own values, not the values of others.

Your next activity needs time, a place where you can freely think of yourself and deeper reflection about
life. You will be given enough time to answer the following items adapted from Who I Am Self-
Awareness Questionnaire designed by James Kelly (2011).
Who I am?
To think about your personal development plan and your mission statement, spend some time
contemplating the following:
TALENTS
Which of your talents or skills gives you the greatest sense of pride or satisfaction?
Pleasing personality
Admirable
Easy to forgive
TRAITS/QUALITIES
Procrastination – delaying tasks and assignments, leading to time management issues and
stress.
Perfectionism – overemphasizing grades and performance, missed opportunities for
socialization and exploration.
What behaviors, traits, or qualities do you want other people to admire in you?
VALUES
Do you spend enough time/with the things you most value? Why or why not?
Honestly, I don’t always prioritize my values as much as I should. Because procrastination and
poor time management, Busy schedules and deadlines, and also Struggling to balance
academics and personal life.
What are the values that you hold most near to your heart?
PERCEPTION
My public self appears confident, outgoing, and goal-oriented, while my private self is more
introverted, reflective, and authentic. I may mask vulnerabilities, present a perfect image, and
hide true interests to conform to expectations. However, embracing my authentic self allows for
increased self-awareness, deeper connections, improved mental health, and genuine happiness.
By balancing my public and private selves, I strive for self-acceptance, creativity, and fulfillment.
It’s hard to be myself because I fear judgment, rejection, and ridicule. I worry about fitting in
and getting approval from peers and teachers. I stress about grades and compare myself on
social media. I’m unsure about my identity and self-expression. But I’m learning to embrace my
authenticity and individuality.
How are you trying to please others with the way you live your life?
I try to please others by seeking likes on social media, agreeing with everyone, and hiding my
true feelings. I overcommit and people-please to fit in. But I’m realizing that I should focus on
my own goals, be authentic, and set boundaries. I’m learning to prioritize self-expression and
self-acceptance.
I want people to think I’m kind, genuine, and compassionate. I hope they see me as a good
friend, a good listener, and someone who’s true to myself. I want to be known for being
positive, empathetic, and understanding. I strive to inspire others with my kindness, courage,
and passion for making a difference. Simply, I want to be remembered as a good person.
How do your behaviors and actions support what they think or say?
I support what others think of me by being kind, honest, and responsible. I help others, listen
actively, and stand up for what’s right. I’m positive, authentic, and true to myself. I show
respect, volunteer, and support friends and family. Through my actions, I strive to be a good
person and make a positive impact.
I don’t want people to think I’m fake, selfish, or dishonest. I don’t want to be seen as
judgmental, lazy, or rude. I strive to be kind, genuine, and responsible. I want to be known for
my positive qualities, not negative ones. I aim to be someone others respect and trust.
Being myself is more important than being liked by others. When I’m authentic, I’m free to be
me and live life on my terms. I gain confidence, respect, and happiness. Trying to please others
leads to stress, anxiety, and losing myself. I choose to be true to myself, even if it means not
everyone likes me.
Who are the people who allow you to feel fully yourself?
The people who let me be myself are my family, close friends, and mentors. They love and
accept me for who I am, without judgment. They listen, support, and encourage me to be
authentic. I also appreciate like-minded friends and role models who inspire honesty and
individuality. Surrounding myself with positive and accepting people makes me feel free to be
me.
I feel fully myself at home, in nature, and creative spaces. These places make me feel
comfortable, inspired, and peaceful. I also love favorite cafes and quiet spots where I can relax
and be me. Being in these places helps me unwind, express myself, and recharge. They’re my
happy spaces.
I feel fully myself when I’m exercising, playing online games, or enjoying me-time. Exercise
energizes me, gaming challenges me, and alone time helps me relax and recharge. These
activities make me happy, reduce stress, and allow me to be myself. They’re my go-to ways to
unwind and feel alive!
How do you want people to remember you when you are gone?
When I’m gone, I want people to remember me as kind, genuine, and compassionate. I hope
they recall my positive energy, supportive nature, and authentic spirit. I want to be remembered
for making a difference in their lives, being a good friend and family member, and inspiring
others to be their best selves. Simply, I hope they say, “He made my life better.”
ACCOMPLISHMENT
What three things are you most proud of in your life to date?
Completing my education
Pursuing my passions, even when it was scary
Achieving my goals, no matter how small
If you are to receive an award, what would you want that award to represent? Why?
If I could receive an award, I’d want it for “Best Independent Person”. This would mean I’ve
successfully taken charge of my life, made my own decisions, and become self-sufficient. It
would recognize my ability to think for myself, solve problems, and confidently navigate
challenges on my own. Receiving this award would motivate me to keep growing and embracing
my independence.
If you could accomplish only one thing in your life, what would it be?
If I could accomplish just one thing, it would be to inspire and positively impact others’ lives. I
want to make a difference through kindness, creativity, or sharing knowledge. Helping others
and leaving a positive mark on their lives would bring me joy and fulfillment. That’s my ultimate
goal.
What do you believe you are here to accomplish or contribute to the world?
I believe I’m here to spread kindness, inspire others, and make the world a better place. I want
to share positivity, foster meaningful connections, and promote understanding. Through small
actions and big dreams, I aim to leave a lasting, positive impact and make a difference in
people’s lives.

and try to see the good in everyone. I can adapt to new situations and grow from mistakes.
Overall, I’m proud of my kind heart and resilient spirit.
I’m working on improving my weaknesses. I tend to overthink and worry too much. I
