I. Introduction
Waste pollution is one of the most pressing environmental issues facing our world today. With the rapid
increase in urbanization, industrialization, and population growth, the generation of waste has surged,
leading to severe environmental, economic and health impacts. Wastes are the material that are not needed
and are not usable economically with further processing. It may be in the form of solid, liquid, and gas.
They originate from the human activities such as agriculture, industry, domestic activities etc. According
to origin, waste is classified as domestic, industrial, commercial, clinical, construction, nuclear, and
agricultural.
Waste pollution in canals is a part of industrial activities that causes runoff or rainwater carrying and
pollutants from streets, sidewalks and landfills into canals. Industrial activities releasing chemicals that
harms water bodies. It causes also littering wherein people littering intentionally or unintentionally, such
as plastics and other waste near canals so that water can’t move or run effectively.
By the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) we will use platforms that
promote the awareness of various diseases caused by waste pollution. The goal of this paper is to inform
individuals that waste is a huge problem of our world, we will use ICT and platforms to empower all
individuals for us to prevent the disease caused by this problem.
Our mission is to lead the charge in reducing waste that causes various diseases that affect all
individuals’ and also environment that causes to be unhealthy and unsustainable community. We aim to
create a cleaner environment by promoting responsible waste management, advancing recycling
technologies, and fostering a culture of environmental stewardship. Our goal is to achieve zero waste with
healthy and sustainable community fostering and empowering our fellow youth to build a good and
healthy environment with the use of ICT.
Our vision is to utilizing waste as a resource, to be a leader in the development, implementation, and
maintenance of innovative and sustainable waste reduction, recycling and collection services within an
engaged community to transform how waste is handled. This vision advocates for policies that support
innovative solutions, and protect natural resources. Furthermore, embracing the principles of “reduce,
reuse, recycle” at both individual and organizational levels is essential.

II. Purpose
This project is worth the time, money and effort of the sponsors because waste management plays
a vital role in protecting our environment by implement strategies to reduce pollution, conserve natural
resources, and minimize the impact of waste on ecosystems. It would help enable us to develop and
maintain an infrastructure for proper waste disposal, recycling, and treatment to avoid further harm to our
environment. Poor waste management can lead to significant risks to public health, including the spread
of diseases, contamination of water sources, and exposure to hazardous substances. By investing, we can
ensure the implementation of measures to protect public health, such as proper sanitation practices and
safe disposal of medical and toxic waste. In summary, funding us can help protect the environment and
public health.
III. Description
Our project is creating a campaign about waste management by establishing the regular cleaning days to
the community where the residents can volunteer to clean and organize cleaning groups with assigned
areas that they regularly maintain to clean. One of our project activities is teaching them how to do a
proper waste disposal by installing clear signs or markers on proper waste containers such as trash bins
and recycling bins and give information to people about waste segregation like separating biodegradable,
non-biodegradable, recyclable and other types of the waste. We also plan to conduct regular inspections
and maintenance for the community canals to ensure proper waste. For this to be effective, a seminar
would most likely be needed to set up community clean up events, where they will help clean up the
community such as roads, parks, markets and canals so that they are not always caused by floods and
invite local expert on environmental organization to share their knowledge about the waste management.
By the help of ICT, we will use social media platforms to provide information about proper waste
management through infographics, images, videos and interactive tools. We will use social media as a
tool for sharing awareness, not only in our community but also to a wide range of viewers so that more
people can know about waste management and raise awareness about waste pollution.
IV. Support
The estimated budget needed for the waste management projects ranges from 750,000 to
1,500,000 pesos. This includes the planning, design, and construction of new and replacement pavement,
utility, and structural improvements to enhance operational efficiency, facility durability, and
environmental protection to certain parts of Baler. This also includes the equipment and supplies,
community-based grants and partnerships, education and outreach for the community, and technology and
innovation used in the project.
